Surging Issue

Hello All:

I am new to this forum and in desperate need of assistance. I currently own a 2013 XMR 1000 with a HMF Slip On Exhaust pipe. There are no other mods done to the bike except for this. I am in hopes that some of you have had this problem and will be able to assist. So here we go:

I was just about to sell my bike when I took it for it quick ride to make sure that everything was sound and in order. As I am riding down the rode, I started to experience power loss and surging. I brought the bike home and cancelled the sale until it is fixed.

I took the bike to a local shop (Jax Powersports) to only find out after they ran a diagnostic test it was a bad ECU. This left me confused as I only have about 62 hrs and 315 miles on the bike. They were going to charge me a little over a grand to fix so, I took it upon myself to purchase the ECU and replaced. I took it back to the shop and they re-programmed it to match the bike to only STILL have the same issue. They then were going to try and have me pay for another diag and I proceeded to pack it up go home. I then went home and plugged the old ECU due to the new one was programmed at a very high idle and it was sticking at 3500 rpm.

I have done the following to try and troubleshoot.

  1. Drained the fuel
  2. Replaced both spark plugs
  3. Replaced Throttle Position Sensor
  4. Replaced Idle Controller
I am at a loss of ideas at this point and need help from someone who knows what the heck they are talking about.

Thanks in advance!

Rear Trailing Arm Question – Gen 2

We are changing out a damaged trailing arm on my brothers 2013 Canam 1000 Outty XT. I know the lower bearing where the rear axle goes to the wheels needs to be pressed in but what about all the internal components in the top circled section of the diagram? There are 4 smaller bearings in there according to the Canam schematics..... are they all press-fitted in there as well or can they be removed/installed without the use of a press or vise? I'm going to be getting the dealership to install all the pressed-in parts and that is why I am asking.

Stripped oil drain plug, how to fix? 2012 Sportsman 850

Well my fears came true, how do I fix a stripped oil drain? Has anyone rethread it and used a bigger plug? any help would be appreciated!

The screw just keeps spinning, I was dripping oil a couple years ago out of the bolt and I can gave it an extra crank, guessing that is when it happened, but it held oil just fine the last 2 years... It came out tight and went back in tight, but it just keeps spinning now.
