I bought a sportsman 800 with a blown engine a while back and am getting close to starting to order parts.

I am looking for a good rebuild kit to use, and I will likely replace the oil pump as well with a factory Polaris Unit.

Currently, one of the rods seems pretty frozen on the crank, other is completely free. The ears on the jugs are still intact so i don't think any case damage is evident.

I have a 2010 Sportsman 800 currently that I am running a Ranger 700 engine in (bought the bike with a blown engine and used the good 700 I have temporarily until I rebuild the 800 engine).

I absolutely love the ride of the 800 bike, it does great on the Hatfield and Mccoy trails. We ride up to 110 or so miles in a day, so I am unwilling to lose this comfort. The ride quality is great.

I am curious if I will be disappointed in the ride quality of a new 850 or 1000? I would like to have power steering, but I could buy a kit for my 800. I rode my buddies Can Am Renegade 800R and was not a fan after about 20 minutes (power was great but ride was too harsh).

I enjoy power, and the 700 engine definitely leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Hi, I just picked up a G2 Outlander Max limited. The adjustable rear fox float air shocks seem like a nice feature but I've read a lot of complaints about the system not working properly, so I'm considering upgrading all 4 shocks. My questions are:

1. I understand that I will need the b.u.d.s. system to 'turn off' the acs on the ecm to make the acs error msg go away...correct? (Any dealer should be able to do this?).

2. Should I look for Used outlander xtp shocks or Elka stage 1-2? I'm about 200lbs, I do mostly trail riding (both 1 & 2up). I read somewhere that the xpt shocks are 'nicer' but are set up for a 160lbs rider??? Can anyone confirm?

I let my wife drive my 1000xp and I got to flogging her new 450 and bent a rim:crying. I hate the 24-8-12 and 24-10-12s on it. I'd like to go a bit wider 9&11 and taller but don't want to get to clutching. What's the limit of a stock 450ho without mechanical work? The damn thing has less than 80 mi on it.

First post here. A buddy just gave me a 2002 Sportsman 400 that was used by employees at their ranch and hadn't been run in 4-5 years. He took it to a local shop who told him it was going to cost $2000 or so to get it running - or they would buy it for parts for $100. They had partially disassembled it already. It's in decent shape, although it looks like they had been using it in water/mud based on the corrosion in the starter/cover.

I've replaced the electric starter and it will run with starter fluid, but won't stay running, so will have to clean the carb. They also had pulled the primary and secondary clutches.

It looks like the primary clutch is shot, there's a number of radial cracks at the base of the clutch. I went by the local Polaris dealer and picked up a new belt and they took a look at the clutches. He said the primary was trash due to the cracks, but the secondary looked okay. Just a quick visual, didn't disassemble. He said the cracks are often the result of getting it hot and then splashing into a mud hole - which is consistent with the water damage I saw in the starter.

This is going to be a toy for me to ride around on our 5 acres, so I'm looking to get it running for cheap. Are the aftermarket eBay clutches like Parts Ace a suitable replacement for basic riding around? It won't be mudded or raced, or have larger tires, etc. Also just occasional riding. I really hate to sink $350-400 into an OEM replacement if a $120-$150 aftermarket one will work.

The other reason for going cheap is that I really don't know what other problems the quad may have and don't want to sink a bunch of money into a clutch and find the diffs are shot or other problems and I won't know until it's actually driving. I already spotted a torn CV boot on the front axle and the drive shaft u-joint is worn, so I suspect there's some other stuff that will end up having to be fixed along the way.

So long story short - will an aftermarket clutch be an okay replacement, and/or are there any specific brands that you would recommend?

Is there a fuse or circuit breaker panel on this model and if so where is it located? (I have been looking and do not see one and the owners manual does not mention it) Thanks

I have a 2016 Sportsman 570 efi. I was ridding on a road with the throttle wide open and it just dropped to about 40mph and would not go faster. It's running smooth, just no power 3/4 to full throttle. Won't go past 5400rpm unless it's going down hill. Its like something is holding it back ir restricting it. Before this happened my fan kicked on after 1.8 miles of easy to slow ridding and my pipe was hot. Usually doesn't kick on or heat up that fast. I had cleaned the rad not too long ago bur its not clean clean. Air intake and fulter look good. Any ideas? Thanks.

So I had this wheeler given to me and so far I've had to replace the starter and all four tires and when I was jacking it up to put the new tires on I noticed that the one of the coil overs was broke in two spots, I ordered a new shock and spring on e bay and now I'm starting the project my only real question is if I will have to pull the whole wheel assembly (bearing and hub) or can I take it all off without having to do that and just pull the spring and shock out of the strut mount going to the wheel assembly, what would be the easiest route with this any help would be greatly appreciated

I just purchased 2018 XP 1000 Hunter Edition and so far I am loving it. I am coming from a 570 and the power band is amazing. My question it that it seems like when I start up the machine it starts “rough”. When the starter engages there is a Pretty noticeable shake before it starts up. Is this because of the high compression in the motor? I am coming from 570’s and it is definitely different. The big bore cranks right up appears to run fine after starting.
I don’t know if this is typical but If anyone could chime in to ease my mind on my new ride I would appreciate it.
