I have a '99 Sport 400. Last night I was riding and hit the rear brake guard on a rock as I was going down a hill. The upper and lower caliper mounts broke causing the caliper to fall off. When I tried to slow down I had no brake pressure to the front or rear brakes because all the fluid leaked out. I ended up going off the side of the trail crashing through a bunch of scrub oak and rolling. Luckily I only got a few scrapes and scratches. My question is why is the front and rear brakes controlled together by the right hand brake? The foot brake operates only the rear. I think this is a bad design. This setup left me with only things on the side of the trail to stop me. I am thinking of using the left hand brake to control the front brakes and installing a right hand brake to control the rear brake. If I hit another rock and the rear brake mounts get destroyed at least I could stop. Would this be safer?

2012 550 Part out
I have a nice 2012 550 Sportsman I'm parting out that hit a box in the right front and messed up front right arms , axle and some fender pieces. The bike had a little over 900 miles and 140 hours. It was stock and in good shape. It was a on power steering bike. It was originally green so the camo is a vinyl kit that was added. I've got about half the bike pulled down. If you need something the best way to contact me is by text or call at 256-612-9015. I part bikes out on the side and am on a lot of forums and such, so that along with working 50-60 hours a week most weeks I easily forget to get back on forums and check stuff.
Reliability of can am
I heard of a lot of people state that can-ams are not that reliable? Is it just the quality of the bike or is there something that the user can do to improve the quality of the bike by changing certain parts

Ticking sound on outlander 400
Hello, so my 400 is making a weird ticking noise. It sucked in water somehow and blew the headgasket. I replaced the gasket but accidentally dropped my cam chain, I also fixed that, and I have my piston on tdc.
Here is a link to a video where you can clearly hear this ticking noise. https://youtu.be/3Lau5VyvdiI
I believe that this sound comes of the valves.. I'm not sure, also I have the decompressor on. This could also be making the noise, I dont really know.
This sound is driving me nuts! Havent really driven it much since the ticking noise started.
Please help me!
