New guy from WNY

Hello, new member here. In 1995, my Dad bought new a 1995 Polaris Magnum 2x4 to replace a stolen Yamaha Warrior.

He rode this ATV for many years accumulating about 1,400 miles. In 2006, he won a 2006 Sportsman 450. The Magnum has sat ever since. Outside.

About a month ago, the whole ATV has come apart and a thorough going through has commenced. Carb was seized, stator was junk, brake hoses were cracked, master cylinder/handle frozen, rust on the ATV, rusted fender screws.

A little over a month in and the thing runs, and sweet. Fresh oil change, fresh ATF+4 in the trans, new chain and sprockets, all new brake pads and caliper rebuilds, new -3AN braided hoses for brake lines with appropriate fittings, new brake handle and master cylinder, new grips, new (used rebuild) Mikuni carb, new Kenda BearClaws, new stainless bolts/nuts for the fenders, new stator, plug and a bunch of other misc odds and ends.

Will be at Tall Pines ATV park June 9th. If you are there and see some big fella riding a green 95 Magnum that has gone through a quick and dirty rest/fixing up, gimme a wave.

Best place to buy parts

I bought a fixer upper trail boss 250. Where is the best and most reasonable place to purchase replacement parts that aren’t cheap pos’?

Good deal on a 2013 800R outlander max, known issues?

I just found a nice outlander max 800R 2013 locally, 5 min away from my house.
200 miles, almost never used.

My only concern is that it's a 2013, so it's 5 years old.

Price makes sense, and it's got skid plates already, battery is new and oil change has just been done.

Are there any known issues with the 2013 800R or it's a good quad? I have a 2005 400 and that would be a nice upgrade for a reasonable price, considering I can re-sell the 2005 one.

Opinions? How good is a quad with that low km but 5 years old? (never mudded, never plowed, just used for some trail, and not much, so it basically just sat there 5 years).

Thanks

Outlander max 570 excessive trunk heat?

Recently purchased a 2018 Outlander Max XT 570. I've ridden a few times and so far everything is going well. I have read about the heat issues on the leg and panels with previous models and the fact with stock shocks the rig seems to dive into corners, which it does and I'm getting used to that. Anyways, yesterday I was out at a riding area and I decided I would put my RV keys and the trailer keys along with 2 bottles of cold water in the rear trunk compartment. I must've rode no more than 30 minutes, stop for a break, reach in for a water, totally hot. Had to use a stick to move my keys because they were to hot to touch, so hot they would melt your skin off. What's the deal with that? That compartment is unusable if that's the way it's supposed to be.

Fan run after key off?

Anyone found a way to do this? My Can Am used to do it until the engine cooled down after turning the key off.
The XP fan turns off with the key and the engine gets hotter according to the temp gauge.

Outlander 570 clutch help

Well over last weekend had something go wrong in clutch case. Started out with hole in plastic case unknowingly. Case got caked with dirt and grim. And ultimately wheeler stopped wanting to move. Took all apart and spent bunch of time cleaning both clutches. Somehow a weight was broken off. And none of rollers move due to mud behind them. Guess my questions are, can I just buy one new weight? All stock. How is best way to remove plastic caps to get the roller removed to clean up and inspect. Rollers do not look like they have flat spots. Realy don’t want to have to spend arm and a leg on full rebuild. Also we’re is best spot to purchase a primary inner sheave puller? Did some research but not to much of what I wAs looking for. Thanks in advance.

92 trail boss 250 starting issues

I purchased a 92 trail boss 250 that has been sitting for over 2 years. I have drained the fuel and oil tanks, replaced the starter and put in a new spark plug and replaced the carburetor. It tries to kick off, but will not start completely. I have good spark and compression. Any suggestions?

Winch Wiring

Just got a 2018 450 that is supposed to be prewired for a winch. Can anyone tell me where to look for the wiring??? New to this machine & trying to get someone in service at my dealer is futile at best. I'd like to put a winch on the front but don't want to tear all the panels off if I don't have to. Thanks.
