Hello everyone, new to the forum and have a question...
Soooo I just got myself an 05 sportsman 500 HO for my bday.. Ran Great for a few days new battery, and then the battery started running down.. Checked voltage on the display was getting 11.2 Volts which went down with accessories on, and didnt go up with revs...
Having a streetbike, I understand the regulator and stator functions, so I figured let me go in with the meter and test, BUT before I do that, is the Regulator/Rectifier on this model built into the ECU? Recall was done in 2008 according to VIN, and the ECU was quoted at $500 from the dealer, so i am almost hoping its the stator...
Can anyone verify the ECU/Reg are the same, and if so, is their another option to purchase this piece not spending 500.00?
Also, if it IS one unit, does the stator 3 wires plug into this unit directly so i know where to plug in the meter for testing purposes?

Hey there to everyone. So I've just brought a 09 550xp. It arrived a couple of weeks ago. Brought it from a dealer. Picked it up from truck Depot and check engine light was on and also has a harsh rattle that comes and goes from the trans area. It's harsh enough to change the engine rpm and cause the bike to shake. It comes and goes. The dealer said that this is completely normal for a 550. I really want the bike but it's nearly at the point of being sent back for a refund. I have a video also if anyone wants to hear. But can't seam to attach it. Please I'd love some advice or help. If there is an issue or a common one how is it fixed?
