input on tire choice

Hey
well the time has come to finally get new tires, my itp mud lite's are 2007 and even having alot of tread I'm finding that it takes a bit to go through even a foot of snow
26x9x12f
26x12x12 r
this is what I have now.
sitting on itp alloy rims
my choices are
ITP Mud lite II
27x9x12f
27x11x12r

or

ITP Mega Mayhem
28x9x12
28x11x12

ITP Mud Lite XTR
27x9x12
27x11x12

I would really like to raise my sportsman up abit by tires only and no spacers.
took alook at the clearance and as long as the fronts don't go wider then 9" I will clear.
what do you think?
thanks
Glenn.

Gap insurance

How can I determine if needed, or i should say a good idea?
I always have it on vehicles, but considering my loan for this ATV is only $9k, is gap even needed?

Outlander 800R (max) f.s. dimension needed

Hi all,

Help needed with dimensions...

Since I'm rebuilding my 800R Max ltd I'm in urgent need of the dimensions from the oem front shocks when installed on the quad, need it from center mounting hole to center mounting hole. I'm going to use them as a reference point so more then one reply is welcome.

Thanks !

Iron Baltic full skid plate system installed: 2018 Touring 850

Bottom line up front: Impressed with strength and what it does for the ATV. Not impressed with the fit.

These were made in 6/2016. Even if Polaris tweaked something 1/4" that is enough to make it a PITA to install and probably not enough for them to say, "yeah we made changes."

- Front skid wavy in middle. As a detailed oriented person, it is annoying but I am sure i will get over it. Will see if the Guru bumpers due in today will cover it or make me care less. John at Guru already told me I need to figure out how to modify so i can install his bumpers with these plates.
- Had to file down the "posts" (circled in pics) in order to make them work. Either QA was off that day or the 2018 is different.
- Multiple times I had to loosen the front upper, front and center skid in order to get the entire assembly to shift so i could get the next piece on. At that point, the 16mm bolts would just drop out since they were holding on by one or two threads.
- Had to replace the 16mm bolts with 20mm bolts. No question about it. I feel this might have been due to the posts that caused these skids to bow out and not let the shorter ones reach.
- Took about 6 hours (below zero in uninsulated garage) and i am fairly mechanically inclined.
- Recommend you do NOT cut out the oil filter and drain plug holes. Just drop the skid when needed. Too late for me so I screwed the OEM protection plate into the skid. Will see how long that last since I don't ride a lot of rocks.
- Left and right rear A Arm Guards protect the same parts, same configuration. As you can see by the photos, they are totally different and the right doesn't give much protection at all (front side)

- No replies from Nils at IB since 1/14. Maybe they are on vacation again. He was replying promptly before.

Pull start parts

When i recently bought my '95 Magnum, the pull start handle and cord were not in place because the cord broke at some point.

So question one, do i need special type of 1/4" rope?

Question 2, if i were to buy a pull start rebuild kit, are there any specific brands or ones i should consider? The ones i've seen haven't had the best reviews.

Fuel gauge

My Sportsman fuel gauge just finally stopped working. It now reads full all the time. It's a 2007 700, does anyone know a fix? Thanks

Starting issues

I have a 99 sportsman 500 started fine over last summer. In the fall I was having some trouble starting it with the ignition switch. I would have to give it a shot of starting fluid then it would fire right up. Then it got really cold after the 1st of the year, 0deg and wind chill below. I could start it only by giving it a shot of starting fluid and pull start it as the electric start would not turn it over. Then last weekend I had some trouble starting it with the pull rope. But once started and warmed up it runs great and even starts with the electric start. Last time this happened I replaced the battery and that seemed to fix it. I have a battery on order as the old one is almost 3yrs old. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
