2000 Xplorer AWD Excessive engine smoke

Noticed that there is excessive smoke out of the exhaust, had to rebuild the water pump last year took apart the oil pump per the manual. Is there a way to modulate how much oil is going into the gas OR is there an adjustment on the carb? New head gasket and piston rings last year about 100 miles since then.

It really smokes!

Tires for 2017 570sp

Hey guys I'm looking for real world reviews and replies on the best tire for my 2017 570sp. I've been reading around the forums quite a bit and haven't found something that really works for my application.

I'm riding 95% of the time 2 up.
Approximately 15% on pavement/rock
10% mud
70% hard pack trail
5% in snow (plowing the drive)

I'm looking for something that looks good and will last. I think I want to run 27s, 9" up front and 11" in the rear.

I've narrowed it down to 3 tires that I'm between, although real world reviews will sway my opinion.

Zillas
Swamp lite
Mega mayhems

I really like the mayhems, they look sweet and have a pretty aggressive lug.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated, also where you guys bought them, thanks!

What is Wrong with My UTV Wiring?

What is Wrong with My UTV Wiring? This is what a Polaris Ranger owner needs to know and he turned to the ATV AnswerMan for help.

Here is exactly what the reader asked the AnswerMan, followed by his response:

Quote:

I’m not sure what the issue is but if someone could help me that would be great. I have a 2010 ranger [800] and it seems to be having trouble running sometimes but not always. I Took it up to my hunting spot when I tried to unload it from the trailer it was idling rough and seemed very sluggish. It would jump around 1130 – 1100 rpms then go way down to 900 rpms. I finally was able to get it going and after roughly an hour it was still just lacking power and not idling well. Then it started dying on me before I went to load it back on the trailer. Has fresh fuel and no water in the gas tank. The dealer did the 50hr service on it with new plugs and stuff. Never had any problem with it idling before. For how much this thing cost me it should hold up way better than this. Please help.

Another New 570 owner

Hello all.

Figured Id introduce myself after trolling around for a bit.

Bought a new 2017 Sportsman 570 a couple weeks ago.

My wife and I bought a house in the snow belt / lake effect snow area of Western New York in October. This should be the house we spend 20 years in. She is about 8 months pregnant right now and my son is almost 3. I cant spend 2.5 hours clearing a driveway whether its so we can go to work or for an emergency.

Our driveway is almost 200 ft long 'S' curve that widens to close to 50 ft. Im not a fan of winter or snow so something had to be done with the snow clearing task. Quickly realized our snowblower wasn't going to cut it. We needed a plow. Didnt want a truck. Atv it is. Many uses for an atv.

Enter the Sportsman 570

Little Man had to make sure it was all tight.

I have ridden atvs but I know very little about them. I am a car-guy (mazdas) and pretty mechanically inclined. I did some research online and watched review videos. Asked some guys at work for advice. Many said go for "at least a 500". Quite a few said Polaris. Some said Grizzly. Some said "go for a 1000!" From all that info it seemed like the Polaris was probably the best. Im not a fan of buying a used "fun" vehicle from a random person online. Any used machine at local dealers were only a thousand bucks cheaper than a new machine.

So we went to the dealer and explained my situation... needed a plow, other yard tasks, some off road stuff, easy to drive (start it up and go), reliable, not overkill. He immediately said "Sportsman 570." The 450 was a couple hundred bucks less and wasnt justifiable compared to the 570. The 570 had a $800 rebate that helped. A couple hours later and we had purchased the machine. Price added up quickly as I wanted a factory plow setup. Winch, plow, mounts etc.

It was delivered a few days later with everything installed. I would have installed plow and winch but for $180 bucks for labor it was easiest to have dealer install.

This machine is great. Just turned 2 hours tonight but its already plowed the driveway several times, done some snow clearing around the yard and a few fun laps through some snow. Clearing the driveway now takes 15 minutes. And waaay more fun. What a relief!!

There are no crazy plans for snorkels or huge tires or driving through lakes. It will be a machine for plowing, yard work and occasional trail riding.

Small plans include a winch cable stopper block, front spring spacers, clamps for yard tools (shovels, rakes), and maybe a quick mount windshield for keeping snow out of my face.

Thanks for having me, happy to be here.
