How do you like your 27 inch Vipers on the Copper LE 1000?

Seems like on some other forums they are talking about going to these for their SxS as a good alternative to blackwaters.

Does the extra inch make them rub much (read this on a magazine review) Are they stiff compared to the CSTs? Are they a significant performance upgrade from the 26 inch CST? How is the ride quality?

Gear box Output seal

Well its that time to change the leaky seal on my 650 Outlander. I have read a bunch of posts regarding this I just have a couple questions. What parts need to be ordered to complete the job? Looks like I can order the oil seal and O ring but there looks like a sleeve that goes with the O Ring that can not be ordered. It looks similar to the wear ring that is replaced when you do the seal on the Differentials. Is the sleeve necessary or do you guys just replace the oil seal and O ring? One last thing how are you guys getting the oil seal out?

Sidewall Repair

Check out this new product for sidewall repair. Google "sidewall slug". It is the only product that can field repair a sidewall tear in an off road vehicle without removing the tire from the rim.

Looks really interesting. Rick.

1994 250 Trail Boss Carb setups

WHAT IS IT WE ARE DEALING WITH?

1994 Trail Boss 250 2WD
Bought this awhile back with a cracked carburetor.

Replaced the carb with the supposed direct replacement (thanks, JMC)
The carb they ordered was a Mikuni Round Slide VM Series Carburetor 30mm Bore VM30-83
Bore Size: 30mm
Spigot O.D. Mounting: 40mm
Main Jet: 250
Pilot Jet: 40

Air Filter:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The carb jets were ALOT larger than stock jets so I swapped them out as I couldn't get the bike to start.

The jets in the carb are currently
Main Jet 155
Pilot Jet 30
Air Screw 1/4 Turn out from zero.

WHATS THE ISSUE?
Bike is hard to start must use starting fluid
Bike runs for with a high idle no matter how i adjust it if i go any lower it dies.
Idle screw is screwed all the way in.
The bike will only run for 10 minutes without dying... not sure if flooding or lean.... spark plug looks like it is burning clean....

Renegade Center Console Light

I swapped to an xtra bright LED in the center console day lamp...big difference! But, has anyone put an inline switch to turn it off manually? I actually wouldnt mind being able to switch between my halos and the center lamp with a single switch. I just have an on/off switch on the handlebar for the halos. Dbl pole/Dbl throw switch to do both? Suggestions??

initial 570 vs kingquad 500

i just picked up another 570 a few days ago, but this one is non power steering and i dont regret it. i figured since they are in the same class, it would be perfect to compare it to my kingquad 500 non ps. i have owned more quads and bikes than i can remember and have ridden plenty of others. the quads in this class in my opinion produce enough performance for any situation i'll encounter and sip gas on top of it. anyway, heres my 1st impressions comparing the two:

ergonomics: the polaris sits a tad higher, but has much higher handlebars. the seat is much plusher on the polaris. the seat on the suzuki is more like a sport quads, which isnt bad. if i had to pick, its close, but id go with the sportsman

shifter: the kingquad wins here. its much smoother and goes in the right range the 1st time thanks to the gated pattern. the polaris does have park though and has gotten smoother over the years.

display: both are very nice. the suzuki dash is all digital, the polaris is all digital save the speedo. the polaris dash has more features so it wins

handling: i cant give a definitive answer, but the suzuki steers a bit easier at slow speed, but the polaris isnt hard to steer. the kingquad does push at speed when you turn the bars and i dont think the polaris exhibits that trait.

suspension: so far the kingquad isnt as plush. polaris did with 4x4 suspension that honda did with sport quad handling with the 250r and thats design it right the 1st time and it seems everybody is still playing catchup. the kingquad rides great though, just a little stiffer

power: i have not ran the sportsman too hard yet, but have the kingquad. according to its speedometer i topped out at 64mph. i will have to test both in a 100 yard dash and top speed with gps. the suzuki runs more like a carbureted engine, more "organic" feeling. the sportsman runs great too, but seems a bit more linear, like a fuel injected engine usually runs. if i had to guess, the sportsman would win a race and seems to have more low end, but it wouldnt be a slaughter

braking: both have good brakes, but the polaris has more feel at the lever, probably because of the braided lines the polaris has. pus the rear brake on the suzuki is a wet brake and they are known to lack feel, but but are maintenance free. in sticky situations though, id still rather seperate brakes like the kingquad

conclusion (for now): both are great quads. i just got rid of a 850 sportsman. the 570 doesnt feel any less powerful down low, turns a lot sharper, has a better top headlight adjuster, more storage, the belt will be easier to change and more. i like the 570 better than the 850. better than the kingquad though? i will have to ride both more extensively
