2000 scrambler 500 idle issue

2000 4x4, cleaned carb, tank, etc. Adjusted pilot air/fuel. Idled well for the first two starts. Prior to doing that I could not get a good idle it was all over the place.

Now it starts easy and idles, after a few moments the idle starts to fall off. I raise the idle screw and it will idle for a while then start to fall off, if I do not give it gas it will stahl. Seems to run fine but just wont hold a steady idle.

Could this be fuel pump?

Sportsman Fuel Leak

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I have a 1999 Sportsman 500 I just bought. I found a couple gas leaks, and have one question regarding a connector or ???.
I see two devices, one of which is a filter, on one of the gas lines. The other line, comes from the "Res-Off-On" selector switch and runs to the carb. That line has a device in it, looks like white plastic, is about 1 1/4" long and slightly over 1/2" in diameter.(close to 17/32 or 9/16"). The filter, of course is larger. This device has a directional arrow on it, pointing in the direction of the carb.

Is it some type of check valve? It seems to be leaking at one end or the other. I don't know if the tubing is split or the device itself is cracked.

Anyone know what it is? I have to replace the switch, probably 3 pieces of tubing and the filter. I don't know about this other device. When I take it apart, I might be able to tell where it's leaking, too.

Thank you
Larry

2005 Sportsman 500HO tire size question

I have a balding set of tires on my sportsman 500 HO quad sizes 26x8x12 on the front and 26x11x12 on the rear.

I found a great looking and priced set of tires on CL that are same size front but on the back it is 26x10x12.

Would this be ok or what kind of issues would this cause on the quad? Anyone know? Thanks in advance for the help and advice...

SATV power steering on a Magnum 500?

Hi, I bought some property and a '99 Magnum 500 came with it. It runs good but is hard to steer. With chronic tendonitis in both elbows I can't ride it much.

Has anyone added the SATV kit to a machine that old? and does it work good?

Thanks
