I bought a 2000 magnum 325 4x4 for my son for Christmas. It's his first 4x4 atv. When I went to look at the atv, I must have walk around that machine 20+ times checking it out. I rode it for about 10-15 minutes, checking the brakes, 4x4, ect. I even ask for a block to lift the rear off the dirt to check the 4x4. I should of check it more.
Well gave it to him yesterday morning. I went to crank it and it was knocking like crazy at idle. Once it warm up it wasn't so load. I'm going to change the oil today. The oil cooler line is leaking also, not bad but its leaking. Was tracing the lines and found the fan was unplugged. I plugged it back up and it runs all the time. I don't know if the over heat temp light works or not. I unplugged the fan. Read on the forum about wiring in a toggle switch.
Well after it warm up yesterday, my son wanted to ride around the yard a couple times. I was watching and notice that the front tires was locking up. The brake handle was so hard I could barely press it. I bleed the brakes, I got that worked out, I thought, now I have no back brakes with the foot pedal. And the hand brakes still gets real tight. Im going to try bleeding the whole system again. The brake fluid was kind of dark and rusting looking. All the brakes worked when I bought it.
Well after I thought I had the brake problem fixed we road to the hunting lease to check cameras and stuff. We had to run through some mud and water, well about half way through the mudding trail the front tires( a least the right one) stop pulling. Then to top things off, it cut off and would not crank back up( with the button or pull cord). My oldest son had to pull us out and home with our 500 sp. My youngest son looked at me, he didnt say it, but I read it on his face, (Dad want kind of peace of junk did you buy me).
Got it back to the shop and charged the battery. It still wouldn't crank. I checked the gas, there was gas in it but I could see the white of the gas tank, so I put on reserve (nowhere to get gas on Christmas) and after a couple of time it finally cranked and ran.
I had to call it a day and cool off because all I wanted to do was load it back up and carry back where I got it from.
So this morning my journey begins in trying to fix this atv. Sorry the post is long. I had to vent a little. The first thing I need is a service/repair manual. Any help, info and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
