I just purchased a 1997 Polaris explorer 400 4x4 2 stroke. It seems to be smoking really bad. Like enough that you want to keep it moving as not to choke on the fumes. Is this just a dirty fuels system or carb problem? Or could it be a piston and rings?

2010 polaris sportsman xp 550 drive clutch replacement one way bearing
Does anyone know of an alternative to the $150 one way bearing for the 2010 sportsman 550 drive clutch? 1322809
Or will the 2011 and up bearing fit? 1521667 1521172

I see the price on the 2011 and up primary one way bearing is only around $40
Please help need to get this thing going.

Hi new to the forum need help with 1000r rebuild
I have a 2015 1000r outlander . I recently rebuilt the motor ran fine for a week . Back fired and lost compression in rear pistion. Took apart ring was cracked figure I set gap to tight. Order new rings went ahead rebuilt both cylinders front good compression rear 66 pounds . Why would I be losing in the rear ?

2003 Sportsman 500 turns over, wont start (on pull start either)
Had to pull start last few times as battery dead. Dropped a new battery in last weekend, now it turns over but wont start. ON the pull start it wont start either. Will pull/replace plug this weekend. Any other thoughts?

Hello everyone, I have been wanting an atv since they first came out. All that time I could not choose an atv before my families needs and so I went without. I am a hunter and enjoy the long days in the field but as I am getting older it is getting harder to do what I could when I was younger. Recently a family member sold me their 1997 Polaris Sportsman 500, it does need some work, but I now have a quad to assist me with hunting and hopefully snow removal once I get it setup with a plow. I hope to learn much about this machine so that I can restore it to a solid driving machine and will need your help and advice along the way. Thank you all for allowing me to become a member of this forum and I look forward to all their is to learn about this machine.

Just want to take a moment to say hi everyone. Just came into a 1999 Polaris Magnum 500 with low hours. Needs some work and this looks like a good place to get the help I need. Looking for a 6 phase speedometer-the outer ring on mine must have had something dropped on it and is badly dented. Thanks again for letting me join the group.
