2004 Bombardier Outlander 400 Max

I have a 2004 Bombardier Outlander 400 Max. I thought I was having problems with my starter, periodically I have to "tap" the bolt that holds the starter in while pressing the start button to get it to start. The last time i was on the trails, my machine was sitting idle, I was standing beside it, it cut off and i couldn't get it started with the starter and most times I could start with pull starter but, when i went to pull the pull starter, I had nothing - it's easy to pull and still wont start.

I thought it wasn't engaged so let rope back in, tried it again and, still nothing. Brought machine back home, put new starter on the machine and I still get a sound that isn't consistent with a motor turning over, sounding maybe like the starter isn't engaging but, the starter is brand new - still nothing with pull starter. Still won't start...

What could I check next?

Hey guys im from Nova Scotia Canada. I have a 2017 Outlander XMR 1000 triple black and all i ride in is mud and water. 14 XMR 650 Oil Change

I'm about to do an oil change and contacted a local dealer. They have an oil change kit for 60bucks. Is it worth buying or can I just buy oil and filter at a local advanced or wallyworld? If so is the correct blend (full synthetic) and weight (0w-40)? I also have no idea on filter type and size. If anyone has info on this please lmk. My XMR was bought used and didn't come with a Service Manual

Any Viper Winch Owners?

It's time for me to bite the bullet and buy a winch for my 16' Outlander L 570 XMR. I'm thinking of going with a Viper elite winch. Does anyone have any feedback? They seem to be a well built unit. My Can-Am manual states my machine is "pre-wired for a winch" but what does that mean? Is installing a winch pretty straight forward on these?

I need help understanding the ACS system

Hey guys I have a 2013 XMR outlander 1000. The ACS system operates fine, shocks go up and down as needed and compressor runs as it should. One thing I cannot wrap my head around is why my front shocks bleed down. Both front shocks always bleed down over an hour or so and the compressor does not cycle to fill them back up. The right front shock, after a little ride, will bottom right out like the setting is on 1 and the left is very soft as well but does not bottom out. Am I looking at a leak of some sort or is it the pressure transducer? Trying to get more knowledge of this system before I start wasting money on parts. I also have a friend with the BUDS computer system, would that be any help to me? And there are no codes being thrown at this time for anything.

Defender Front Locker

I am saving up to purchase a Defender next fall and I was super happy to see Can-Am finally came out with a front locker (Smart-Lok). But my happiness went away when I saw it only came in the Defender XMR model. I am planning on buying a XP model for around the farm so I guess a Halo Locker is in my future unless next year they put the Smart-Lok in all the Defender models.

Fuel

I bought a 2017 450 HO last month and wondered what octane gas you guys are using. I also had somebody tell me that they add a little additive to every tank to take care of any moisture in the fuel. Not sure if this is necessary or not. My son rides and races dirt bikes but I haven't had an ATV in about 20+ years. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

RMStator Mosfet Regulator RPM’s

Hello there. So my first issue started here: Melted voltage regulator plug/wires.

I went through and found the weather pack connectors to repair my main harness. Installed that, and I thought I had swapped a wire or 2 when doing so. I did a continuity test from the stator plug to the harness plug I fixed, all check out, so I know it's not something I did.

Now I have a new issue. I purchased a new Mosfet Voltage Regulator Rectifier from RMStator. It is as described Plug and Play, everything hooks up.

However, when I start the machine, the idle RPM's are fine, but after a few seconds the RPM's drop. Normally around 1170 but drops anywhere between 600-900, but there is no physical noise change in RPM's. If I give it throttle they drop more.

Is it possible that it was wired wrong from the factory? I don't want to run it too long to try and trouble shoot as I don't want to fry anything.

I swapped out the OEM regulator I have as a backup into it's spot and RPM's are perfect, changes with throttle doesn't drop at all.

Anybody have any ideas? Suggestions? Don't really want to send it back if I can just swap a wire in the plug and be good to go.

Thank You.
