Anyone on here running the 800 or 860 kit with or without cams..almost time to upgrade my 650 motor or just go by and 850 or 1000...just doing some research..Iv read that mav heads are kind disappointing on smaller cc motors like the 800 and not worth it.im leaning toward an 800 kit and cams and a reflash.probly the easiest route.but open to suggestions..just want a good reliable bike for fast trail and all around use!..thnx for any info
Gas gauge problem on 550 xp eps
Hi, I bought a 550 with low miles a little while ago and I noticed after a few big rides that the gauge never drop more than one square wich is about 8 liters. during my last ride I refueled and noticed on my way back that the gauge reads full at all time now. Is there any way to fix or diagnostic the problem without pulling the gas tank off? Looks like its a bitch to get to.
Another problem that was a first, I noticed my belt box was very hot from the riding and warm weather I switched to low gear going down a dirt road to ventilate the belt and hit the 60 kph cutoff, the high voltage warning lit up in the cluster. Any chance it is a one time occurrence and wont come again? Love the bike but every 4 ride I get a code or something...

2005 Sportsman 800 Rear Diff
My 05 800 sportsman rear differential is shot. Cant seem to find much info about it as far as rebuilds etc. a new one is about 1300 which is ridiculous. A used one from Ebay is + - 300 but i dont know what Im getting. Is there any info out there on what year and models have the same diff as mine because i can get a 2012 800 parts bike 2 hours away the diffs look the same but now sure havent seen in person. Any other online parts places to find a rear diff?
Looking to buy first Can Am
Hey Guys,
As the title says I'm considering buying a Can Am and was hoping I could get a bit of insight from the forum before I do. I have a Honda Foreman 500 and recently bought the wife a 420 which she loves. I was happy with the Foreman but after 5 years I find myself wanting more power and that is something that Honda just doesn't seem to offer aside from their Rincon which I don't like. Anyhow I'm sure none of you care too much about all of that haha. I've been reading through the forums the last few days here trying to figure out the pros and cons of making the switch. What I'm interested in getting is an Outlander 850 XT. My riding is mostly mountain trails, logging roads and I don't shy away from mud puddles when I come across them (although not up to the racks like some of you).
Some questions I have in no particular order are:
- I've read that these units can run really hot even to the point of some people claiming they burnt their legs. Is that still ongoing or a thing of the past with older models? I'm looking at buying either a 2017 or 2018 model. From what I can tell the fixes range from wrapping the exhaust, getting a tuner module so the engine doesn't run as lean or actually modifying some of the plastics to get better airflow.
- Coming from a Honda which is known for having poor HP per CC I'm sure I would be perfectly happy even with a Can Am 650 but for only a little over $1000 more to me it makes sense to jump up to the 850 and have the extra power there if I need / want it. Would the 850 be a little jumpy though on the initial throttle? What I mean by this is if I'm on a rocky technical trail would the 850 be capable of crawling over obstacles or is the crazy power Can Am is known for present even at gentle throttle?
- How is the reliability of Can Am if you aren't beating the crap out it? To be honest Honda has been great in that department, but as I said just a little sluggish for my liking. Are there areas other than the typical fluid changes that need some regular maintenance to keep the machine happy?
- I've seen a couple of posts where people say the shifting is abnormally hard to the point where it has even broke some plastic piece while trying to shift between ranges. Is that a common issue or just something a few random people have had problems with.
In general I was hoping you guys with all the experience could chime in with both the good and the bad so I have a good idea what I'm signing myself up for. Any help would be appreciated!

2006 Sportsman 500 Electrical Issue
Hi Everyone, I am new here so please forgive me if I missed a rule or two. I have searched until my eyes closed on a similar issue and can not find the solution to my problem.
I have a 2006 Polaris Sportsman 500HO 4x4. I bought it used and with a few repairs it was a great running machine. I had to rebuild the carb and didn't get it back together right which resulted in some cranking trying to get it to start. The carb is now fixed correctly, but during this cranking process, it just lost power. Speedo does not power up, no power to key, nothing. It has a new battery, new starter, new solenoid, new speedo, new power distribution module, new kill switch, and new key switch. I have replaced everything I know to replace. The speedo was replaced prior to this happening, however it has zero run time on it. If you jump the solenoid the starter will engage.
I have tested the fuseable links near the battery and they test good. It seems to me it is a wiring/ground issue, but I am not sure which wires/pins to test to isolate the issue. The single plug to the PDM has power to two of the pins if I remember correctly, but do not remember which ones.
It seems to be a wiring issue but I am not sure which wires/pins to test to isolate the issue. Has anyone experienced this problem before? If so what was the problem? If not, any direction on wiring/pin testing is greatly appreciated.

upper frame
I found a thread a couple months back about frame repair under the seat area in front of the fuel tank. I've searched with different key words but can't find it again...does anyone know who posted it or the title?

In need of help!!! I recently purchased a 2017 outlander 570. I also purchased the can am super winch 25. During install i noticed there is a triangular bracket on my 2016 outlander where you would attach the bracket for hold the solenoid.. on my 2017 the bracket is missing, which im thinking during the build the mechanic forgot to put it on the frame. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THAT BRACKET!! Thank you
2013 Sportsman 550 X2 rear axle issues.
Just like to get some feedback on replacing my left side rear axle. Thoughts on Niche Ind. Tuff Axles? Am I required to replace both axles? Would like to go high end aftermarket but $$$$. Any feedback would be appreciated.
