New guy here.

Just joined, new to 4 wheels. Been a 2 wheel guy all my life. Still have my old 86 xr250r. This past weekend, picked-up a 98 Sportsman 500 with only 800 miles from original owner. Gonna take some time to get comfortable on 4 wheels.

Engin runs but dies with throttle.

2002 Sportsman 700Twin.

Hi pros. I’ve never worked on quads before but this has been very interesting project. The carburetor has been change on the quad by someone. There are 4 tube nips. I get the gasoline one. Then one tip on top of the carburetor (witch is not on the stock carburetor) just plugged it.
2air nips facing towards the seat, one has a tube( I’m assuming it’s just an air vent) the other one is also plugged.

Now when I start the quad it work fine. But as soon as I hit that throttle it’s suffocates and dies. If I slightly give it some gas it will move but as soon as I give it a kick it dies.

There are 2 air tubes sticking in front of the quad. One goes to the front and other to the back. Just for giggles, I connected the back tube to the carburetor and now when I hit the gas it works fine but it makes so much smoke, it’s unbelievable.

I’ve seen so many diagrams and videos and they’re all show different things. I need help if anyone knows what’s up.

I lost the pin out of the CDI unit this being my fourth one. Does anybody have a 2007 ds650x that can post a pic of there CDI wiring harness.

Battery not charging

I have a 2002 Polaris Magnum 325. Battery not charging, starter not working even when battery is charged. Starter motor works when terminals crossed at solenoid. Pull starter works all the time.

Rectifier?

Also, where is the rectifier located on this thing?!

Any help would be great!

K&N Air filter which one???

Hey all looking to upgrade the stock filter to a K&N just for ease of cleaning it out instead of having to purchase new ones.
I was searching and cannot find which one fits my 2017 Polaris Sportsman XP 1000. Its not even listed on the K&N website???
Even browsing through my owners manual I cannot even find a stock filter # for part comparison

All the measurements seem to be the same I just wanted to see if anyone on here has one or for sure knows if it will fit?

2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 Rough Idle!

I realize this is a common problem with these machines but I have never been able to get mine to go away. It started doing it randomly about six months ago where the idle would jump from 1190 RPM down to 800 and back up to 1200. It only idles rough when it’s hot but it’s sporadic not consistent. Occasionally it will idle fine when hot, and other times it will be all over the place till the idle drops so low it stalls. I have tried the following fixes to no avail:

New IAC
New MAP sensor wiring
New IAC harness
Correct TPS position
Valves in spec
Compression reads good
Flywheel key is perfect
Brand new pump
Brand new fuel pressure regulator
New spark plug
New fuel filter
Cleaned throttle body
New clean air filter
Disconnected battery to reset computer

No error codes or check engine present on the vehicle. I have gone through it and even had a Polaris tech look at it. The only thing he could come up with is it’s running lean. This was before I replaced the pump and pressure regulator which he recommended as a solution. Since then the issue still hasn’t gotten better. I’m at my wits end with the machine and about to sell it unless someone can offer some ideas as to what else might be the problem. Anyone have any ideas why when it gets hot it runs rough?

17 front diff axle seal leak

I need to replace the seal where the cv axel goes into the front diff do I have to pull the diff or can I just pull axle and pop seal out and install new

XT instrument guage cluster

Hey everyone. I have the base model HD8 and was hoping to upgrade my instrument panel to the XT cluster. Reading a couple threads here and on the web, everyone said it will work and is plug and play.

So I ordered OEM #710005135. I recieved it and proceeded to install. Plugged it in and turned it to the on position. It went through its greeting and said "recognized new ecu", then scrolled "performance key" then nothing else. I then attempted to start the machine and nothing happened. It wouldn't kick over. I made sure it was fully in park and nothing. Just a click noise but no engine turnover.

I removed it and plugged in my original guage and the machine started.

Is this not compatible with the base model? I read several people said it worked just fine. Any help will be appreciated.

Led and 4 headlight mod

Now Im wondering if anyone has installed led headlights and did the 4 headlight mod. Does that sufficiently get around the charging issue since led’s use less power?

Hey Guys so the motor or something start banging like nuts, maybe the crank or something deep. We get inside and find the ($500+) part listed above is broken, moving around, clip is broken and missing parts. (inside of motor looks fine and no metal so we are focusing on this broken part.)

We know we need to replace it but would like to know if anyone has explanation of what it actually dampens or does? Why not have it solid to give more HP to the wheels?

What about doing away with all the guts, springs, clips etc.. and welding it solid and re balancing it, with no dampening capacity at all... What would that do? Pro & Cons

I have not seen any aftermarket replacement with or without the dampening system of springs and stuff inside. Yes we cut it open and it has a bunch of springs, clips and dodads in there..LOL

We were talking and wondering if Can Am has a solid one and that is why they seem to have more snap off the line and not as spongee or soft. Any ideas or help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance - Pic in link below.
