Hey guy, I’m new here. I’m having an issue with my 96 magnum, it won’t spark and I’ve tried everything bag I know of. I’ll give a little background on what happened when it went out. I was going through something pretty deep and the rear end started floating and pushed the front end down pretty far into the water. Not far enough to get into the engine, but the clutch cover was full after that, and everything up front ignition wise went under I think, including the junction block for all of the connections. After being under like that for about a minute it died and wouldn’t restart. After sitting and drying out, it would fire just once. And it would repeat that single fire every few hours. That most it fired was about three seconds. I have replaced everything that I can think of. Coil, plug, CDI, regulator, and slotted the pick up holes and moved it closer to the flywheel. I have tried a new CDI and coil, and a known used one that is Polaris brand. I have tried unplugging the black wire of the CDI and checking the ETC switch in the throttle. Still no go. I do not have any specs to check the resistance on anything. If anyone had that I would greatly appreciate it. Or any ideas as to what it could be. Is there a fuse for the ignition system on this bike, or a breaker somewhere?
Timing questions
Please help with a timing question. When I get every thing timed and reassembled, when i rotate from TDC around to TDC the cams are not timed. I was thinking if you are setting TDC and you make two complete rotate everything should be timed.
Is this a true statement?
Why wouldn’t it still be in timed?
Any help would appreciated
Thanks Tim

burned rubber (belt)? smell
I did some pretty rough driving today in hot weather, and at some point, in slow speed technical trails, it started smelling burnt rubber.
Is my belt slipping or something? how can I test/fix?
I have upgraded from the stock tires to 27 mega mayhems, maybe I need the clutch kit?

Lost power steering
Last Saturday I drove my 2015 RZR 900S to a friends place. Got there and shut it off, When I got ready to leave my power steering was not working. got home and started checking it out. What I found was there was no 12 volts to the 20 amo fuse in the fuse box, got behind the rzr were the wiring harness goes into the battery & fuse area under the drivers seat, The wire harness was riding against the frame and got into the wires and shorted it out. I was lucky my extended warranty covered it
Hogs Canyon OHV area, Kanab Utah
A bit late on this write up. We hit up Hogs Canyon on my road trip in my. This area was essentially a starting point for a TON of trails in the area. But we didn't go to deep in as it was just my two machines, and me with one non-rider, and one novice rider.
Terrain was mainly sand & Slick rock. lots of fun technical parts and and a good Jeep rating scale on the trails. Most of the bad stuff had ways that you could get around if you weren't comfortable attempting them. We only encountered 1 section where even I puckered - but the Novice rider behind me didn't know better, and rolled the Hawkeye over on himself. Fouled plug, and a machine left in the wilderness over night because Utah closes on Sundays. I'd have had him winch over it as the Touring with it's longer wheel base had some difficulty getting over about a 18" step on a steep section of trail. But it all worked out at the end of the day.
Will definitely be making more trips to Utah to ride. It's great riding.

1995 Identification help
New member here. My introduction is in the new members forum. I recently purchased this 1995 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4. Thais is my first atv and so far I am loving it. My questions are this: I have been looking at other pictures of sportsmans from the same era 1993-97 and all of them look the same (black rims, olive drab paint, black racks, etc) Do I have one with different options? Did someone put this one together using Xpolrer plastic? It has a Canadian leaf symbol by the headlight, is this machine from Canada? To me everything appears to be stock. I'm at a loss trying to find any info on my atv and would appreciate any help. I have attached the pictures the seller sent to me. Thanks
New member with first atv!
Hi everyone, I am new here. I'm from south central Minnesota and recently purchased my first atv. The atv is a 1995 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4. I'm slowly fixing some issues with it but it runs good and appears to be a nice overall machine. I will post my questions in the other forums.
Here's the rundown:
1995 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4
2 stroke liquid cooled
2057 miles
appears stock but not sure
I'm looking forward to meet others online and maybe meet up in person. Thanks

Front diff oil capacity and armature plate questions
I have 2015 sportsman 1k. Spec for oil capacity is around 9 oz. And last time I had it apart to replace armature plate for 4wd kicking in in 2wd filled it with 9oz of on demand fluid. Went to change old again cause it was acting up again and when I pulled full plug half of the oil came out and could only get about 4 oz. Back in. Any one else have this issue or know why? Or have a problem with armature plates warping been through 3 of them and only last maybe 100 odd miles. Magnets are replacing not holding magnitisum and switch is good not leaking voltage to it.
