Doing and oil change for a friend on his Sportsman 850 just to find out the last guy completely messed up the threads going into the crank case. Any suggestions on how to fix? Thinking helicoil or a self tapping plug. Half the threads are also somehow missing !
Night run to Champagne Rock
Had the great opportunity to once again ride with our dear friend that is battling cancer. :grin After an extremely long week of work and a very long tiring day was at home showered, finished with dinner, and settling in for a Friday evening of relaxing and trying to stay cool. My wife's phone rang and it was our friends wanting to know if we were up for a night ride. They had asked if we wanted to go for a ride on Saturday but we had to turn them down because I had to work. So we asked where they were wanting to go and they named a trail that we had been on a couple times before but never for an evening/night time excursion. We immediately said yes and were loaded up and heading out the door to pick them and their machine up by 7:15 p.m. We arrived at the trail head by 7:45 p.m. and were out of the parking lot and on the trail by 8:00. 4 or so miles into the ride we stopped at our normal viewing point to sit and visit, share a bottle of sparkling cider and wait for the sun to set. It is a beautiful view in the morning and anytime throughout the day, but on a mid-summer evening just before sunset it is spectacular. This was an opportunity we were not going to pass up not knowing how long Julie is going to feel well enough to be able to go out and enjoy the creation we live in.
Transmission leak repair
I am in the process of removing the transmission from a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 700. It is leaking from one of the seals. Removing it is going well, but I had a question. Should I bring the transmission into Polaris to be resealed or is it something a weekend mechanic could do? I have the service manual, but it really only covers a rebuild. I just want to take off the covers, remove the old seal and replace with a new one. I have never opened a transmission before and am worried that I will @#$& it up. Any advice?

Sloppy grease job at the dealer?
So I bring my atv at the dealer for the service, because I don't have time to do it.
They do everything on the list.
Then, when I get home, and change tires, I have a look at the grease fittings...
half have gubs of grease all around the fitting (and a few have like 15mm balls of grease all around the fitting), and half are still so dirty they haven't been touched.
Now, if they can't even properly grease the fittings, that kind of makes me wonder how they did the rest of the service..
That,s just sad, really, when you pay to have proper service and end up with crap like this.

Help diagnose starting problem Sportsman 500 (video)
2013 Sportsman 500. New battery but won't start. Just a loud obnoxious sound. Assuming it's a starter problem. Even tried jumping with my quick start and won't turn over. Below is a video I took of the problem. Do you think it's a bad starter or another problem.?

Belt issues
I have a serious question I have heard some people say they use a drive belt for the maverick instead if the stock one when they replace it I do believe they are talking about the 1000 ATV my question is can you use a maverick belt on an 800 outlander xt? I recently purchased a gates g force beltand after a long weekend ride I found that some of the teeth on the top of the belt we're goudged does that have something to do with the size of the belt or a problem with my clutch? I know two questions in one
2006 secondary clutch clunk
try to move my secondary clutch left or right and it clunks and only moves about an inch in each Direction is my clutch shot or is it further damage in the transmission
2013 outlander, horrible brakes?
Is there something wrong with my brakes? They are absolutely horrible at braking.
I just can't brake fast, they cant lock the wheels.
Is that normal? Will just switching pads fix it?
