The brakes were soft on my 2003 sportsman 500 and when I went to bleed the rear caliper I noticed that both bleed screws were sheered off. I didn't notice it when buying the atv a few weeks ago.

I tried to use an extractor to get the broken studs out, but the housing cracked and the caliper is ruined.

I can get used oem 03 caliper from a local parts guy for $80, but also found an ebay seller that has new niche ind rear calipers with pads for $50.

Not sure which one to buy.

Has anyone used the niche rear caliper?

I've read that their clutches are so-so and am wondering about their calipers.

Yeah I know, ATVs and lawns don't mix.

Picked up a new 2018 base 570 with EPS and am now looking for new tires. Looking for something that's easier on the lawn compared to the Carlisle 489s but still offers good traction on packed snow and ice. I have very little interest in mudding. The vast majority of the machine's miles will be from using it for property maintenance.

My understanding for being easy on the lawn is a tire with a large and flat contact patch. For packed snow and ice, you want lots of blocks with siping.

I plan to move up one tire size across the board to 26x9-12 and 26x11-12.

Anyone have recommendations?


I've looked around a lot and have been eyeing the Sedona Buzzsaw RT shown below. Can't find anything on this site for these tires. Thoughts???

So I just got the bike on Saturday, have put about 20 miles on it just riding in my yard and a couple runs up the road, when I first put the green key in I thought it was good for my wife or my 14yr to ride on, put I ran it around the woods a little bit myself on the green key, what a dog, it does go 46, but it almost feels like its running on 1 cylinder, I have a 16 sportsman 570 and it would smoke this 1000 with the green key.

My neighbors 16 xt-850 has a grey and black key, it feels the same performance wise on both keys, just limits speed. At this point I really don't see a performance advantage over the 850, honestly it may feel a little slower, I guess my machine may need a little more break in time and it is a little heavier, but its supposed to be 14 more hp, I think his is rated at 75hp, we will have to do a drag race soon.

I do like the ride quality better than my Polaris, however the engine breaking is a little aggressive, I went down a small incline and was off the throttle and the rear tires locked up, I prefer how the Polaris acts going down a hill it will roll until you bump the throttle then it will slow down but not lock up the tires, definitely surprised me.

Hey guys, just looking for some performance advice. I have a 2011 renegade 800 xxc with roughly 4700 kms on it. It's a stock machine and with the new 1000 xmr renegades starting to pop up in my area it's starting to seem like it's not as impressive anymore. I was thinking of selling my machine and buying a new one but after a good tune up my bike is working great and I believe it still has lots of life left. What I'm looking for is basically what would you do? I'm thinking maybe an exhaust, programmer, clutch, 2 inch lift and 28 inch tires. Mine is still the G1 chassis so do you think its worth pumping up the power and lifting to try and run with an xmr? Or will I just pay a lot of money to break parts and still fall short on power? Any advice is much appreciated. This won't be happening over night as I want to thoroughly plan it all out if I do decide to upgrade. Exhaust would be my first purchase. A friend of minexpensive just bought a Yoshimura for his 2013 800 xxc and it sounds awesome but maybe there's better out there? Once again thanks in advance.:grin:thumbsmilie:

I have a sportsman 570 with out power steering, if I get the parts for the power steering and install them can I use the same computer I have for my EFI bike?

I know I can also get the aftermarket kit as well. I was hoping to not add one more computer to the bike.

My son asked for signals and a horn. Rear signals LED’s are mounted “in” light fixture. About $85.00 for everything. Picked Mouser pins and will try to connect signals to Instrument Cluster.

Help needed. My 850's check engine light came on the other day. I was told there is a method of pulling trouble codes up on the display. Is this true? I'm looking through the manual and can't find anything on how to do it.
