2018 Polaris Sportsman 850 Touring vs. Can-Am Outlander MAX XT 850: By the Numbers

The 2018 Polaris Sportsman 850 Touring and Can-Am Outlander MAX XT 850 are two of the premier two-up ATVs in the industry to we decided to see how they compare…by the numbers.

ATVs have always been single-person machines, even though the idea of having someone jump on the back and riding with you is something that has been done for decades. The manufacturers took notice and some started offering machines with longer wheelbases and specialized seating that allows for a passenger to ride along in a safe way. A two-up machine is an idea borrowed from the snowmobiling world. It gives the rear passenger a seat that is a little higher than the driver, with separate hand holds and proper foot placement. While both Polaris and Can-Am offer two-up machines of various sizes, two that match up very well are in the 850 class – the Polaris Sportsman Touring 850 and Can-Am MAX XT 850. Let’s see how well they do, by the numbers.

Need help with atv

Hi Everyone,

Im new to this forum, I looking at purchasing a 2010 850xp eps, it has a problem you can move the shifter into each gear and rev it up and the machine will not move. Is this an easy fix or something that will cost a fortune, would it be the belt?

2017 Sportsman 450 – 1st oil change

Hello All,

I bought a Polaris service kit online but failed to notice the engine oil and filter are a different kit. I wanted to change my oil this past Saturday due to the nice weather so I did some research. Some of the info. came from this site.

O.K. I'll get to the question. Are the products I used adequate based on my research? I used Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-40 oil and a Fram PH6017A filter. I changed it and started 2nd guessing myself so I want to make sure before I ride again.

Cross country racers are no strangers to brutal conditions, but racing in six inches of snow is definitely out of the ordinary. Racers at the IXCR Deer Ridge event were pummeled with a spring snow storm a couple of weeks ago, which made for some crazy racing and very interesting spectating. Check out the video of […] more

Gen1 outlander problem after rebuild

Good morning, new to the forum. Having an issue I’m having trouble figuring out. Spun a rod bearing and did a complete rebuild with a Mr.Rpm. Crank/rods and his 860 kit. The bike does not want to start without giving it a little throttle. Once started it will idle anywhere from 1-8 minutes then all of a sudden instantly shuts off, no sputter or anything. Fuel pressure stay at 51 and I’ve cleaned the throttle body and all the sensors. Battery is fully charged. Any insight is appreciated. Bike is a 2010.
