Hey everyone. I have had my 2008 Can Am 650 outlander max XT since new and I have just suffered my first issue ever. Little hole in the radiator. What a job that is to fix. Just joined this forum as I had googled repairs and this website popped up. I live in the sunny Shuswap of British Columbia, Canada.

That Awkward Moment When UTVs Rescue the Search And Rescue Team + Video
That Awkward Moment When UTVs Rescue the Search And Rescue Team + VideoIt’s not uncommon for UTV folks to clash with law enforcement out at some of the popular riding areas like Glamis and Dumont, but at the end of the day most people are willing to lay their grievances aside and help each other out. Or in this case, rescue the search and rescue truck that […] more

** important reminder ** sportsman skid plates
Important reminder to keep an eye on your factory skid plates on all sportsman models.
Buddie who bought my old 850 sprung an oil leak, got it in my shop n thought maybe the oil filter loosened off or pinched the seal. No oil came out of the engine.. changed filter an added oil and changed the fikter but continued to leak.
The skid plate was pushed up onto the block, i cut the plate off and noticed it had been chaffing on the engine block, probley for last 2 years? It wore a small pin hole into the block by the oil filter. There is a groove in the block by the filter and the skid plate has the exact *male* groove on it. Once the plate got pushed up the groove's enlocked and wore a pin hole not noticeable by eye. The entire bottom of the engine block was wore down.
I jb welded the block, made a new skid plate an welded it on. Engine sounded fine?
He Started up the road, w.o.t 7500 and the old 850 exploded. One rod flew out behind the bike and the second almost blew his foot off !
His brother owns a 1 year old 850 n our friend has a 2 year old 850. We inspected both of those bike and seen the skid plate was up a bit on those to so we pryed them down. I welded a secondary plate on the 1 year old machine.
Just a friendly important reminder. A lot of people likely dont ride as hard in tough terrain as us but we have all bottomed out these bike's one way or another. We learned the hard way so I'm leaving this here so you guys don't have to !!

Bowhuntzeke
I purchased a new Polaris Sportsman 450 HO last September. Now it will not start unless I man handle the hand brake and squeeze the daylights out of it. Once I squeeze the brake hard enough, it will start. I am curious if this is a known issue, and what the possible fix might be? It is very frustrating, because the bike has almost stranded me numerous times. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
if there is a way to bypass the hand brake for starting, I would gladly try it. I have owned several ATVs and this one is driving crazy!!
Thanks

Finally got out for a ride again this weekend. Had a group of three atv's, and six rzr's. A perfect, beautiful day to get out and ride.

No Ramps, No Problem + VideoRiding by yourself can pose a problem when it comes to loading up your ATV at the end of the day. We’ve seen a lot of different methods, but this one is definitely a first. We’re betting he probably went through a few tailgates in the process of learning how to do it. ATV.com recommends […] more
