Five of the Best Cheap Four Wheelers

There are a lot of people out in the off-road world that think of ATVs and Side-by-Sides as simply four wheelers. As an introduction to the wonderful world of ATVs, we figured we’d put together a list of five of the best cheap four wheelers that can put someone on the right track to a lifetime of off-road adventure, while saving a few bucks.

As we all know, the prices of new four wheelers has been steadily rising. Don’t think of it as an obstacle to fun, though. You can score a sweet deal on one of these cheap four wheelers. So what makes one cheap enough to make this list? As long as it has the basics of four wheels and an engine, and isn’t sold off the back of a truck in a parking lot, we considered it. Cheap means lower-priced fun, not lower quality.

Concerns of remanufacured engines

What would be your concerns about buying a re-manufactured ATV/UTV or side by side engine.
1. Price?
2. It will take too long?
3. Will they install new parts or just find parts that will make past the warranty period?
4. Am I going go through all the trouble of taking it out of my unit, shipping it, reinstalling it and it not work and go though all that crap ,, again?
5. Will they use quality parts that will last or some cheap low quality parts
6. Is the place that is doing the work have someone that has years of experience remanufacturing engines and can help with problems or questions?
7. Shipping
What other concerns would stop you from buying a remanufacured engine?

2 inch receiver adapter

Hey everyone,

been using your forum for a while and am just now running into an issue i cant seem to find much info on. i want to get a ground hog max disc and others are advising against using the 1.25" receiver due to its weakness. so i am looking around for a good alternative to put in a 2" receiver hitch. i am also slightly against using the kit from ground hog as i'm just not in love with it. i have seen some from Koplin but they don't seem to match up to my model and year. BTW i have a 2011 Sportsman 500 HO. i would rather not weld something onto the frame so if anyone has any good options please let me know.

Thanks,

Limp Home- Low Oil Check Engine

OK so after a long ride a few weeks ago my bike went into limp home mode suddenly. I had gone through plenty of mud, but radiator was clean. LOW OIL was the message. I've done some research I know that means low oil pressure. I changed the oil and filter and the oil pressure switch, no change. Take out dip stick and rev it and nothing sprays out. after it runs for a 10-15 secs it starts to valve tap I believe because its due to lack of oil pressure. I also ordered the oil pump plastic gears and pins. I pulled off the CVT box, PTO side cover and found the gear that drives the oil pump itself split in half and not connected. There's the issue! Also the plastic timing chain guide had some wear on it but the chain was tight and in place properly. I lost pretty much all the coolant out of the bike when I popped off the cover so after I reinstalled the cover I filled it back up with coolant. I went over to check the oil and that all drained out too. Is that supposed to happen? I believe I saw an oil passage into the bottom of the crankcase. I figured I could just refill the oil i lost with new oil, put everything back together and fire her up. Please let me know if I'm missing something or any mistakes may have been made.

Just Arrived

Bought a 1997 Sportsman 500 that was really neglected. Going through it piece by piece. Previous owner said he didn't know it had a low gear. Guess he didn't know the transmission needed oil to make it work either. NOw has low gear.
Need a serivice, etc. manual. Any susggestions?
Thanks Ron

Poll Is your Belt cover Water Proof

Who has a proven water proof belt cover? What method waterproofed it?

Yes water Proof and have never sealed it (the way it came from factory)
Yes water Proof but I removed back side of cover and sealed it.

Oil change 2018 Defender XT H10 question

The book says initial service not needed for 10 hrs or 200 hours. Is anyone changing their oil sooner than this? Also, is the oil from factory the same as the oil in the owners manual? Maybe Can Am wants a certain oil to stay in for 200 hrs? Picking up a new XT H10 today. Thanks.
