Bearing noise??

16' 850 HL. Getting a vibration/wering (?) sound when on the throttle, gets fairly loud. When I back off the throttle is lessons significantly. Also the odd vibration in the foot well through the peg.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks!

Oh WOW

I bought a 2003 330 Trail Boss in the spring, paid $1000 for it and other than the front tires needing replaced it was in quite good condition. I put new tires, belt, chain and sprokets, spark plug, all fluids and filter @ $276. What a great trail machine without a big investment. Now a week ago I bought a 2002 Scrambler 500HO 4x4, it took a week of negotiocating (Facebook Market Place) to even get to see it. The asking price was $1350 and I started with a $600 offer that was turned down but was given the bottom price of $1000. We went back and forth with me offering $800 and them considering it and then turning that down. I finaly got a chance to see it and an agreement that we would get together between my $800 offer and their $1000. It was over an hour away so my wife and I made an evening outing out of it and have dinner out. My wife texted them as we ordered letting them know that we would be there after we ate. They texted back letting us know that the machine will not go into gear and is making a noise when shifted into gear. I knew I would be putting chain and sproket because they said it was slipping but now what? Anyway we get there and the battery is dead but it has pull start and pops off the first pull, yet as they said it would not move and it is making this clunking noise. I noticed tire trackes around that matched the machine and I figured their teenage boys got on it and tore it up. We sat on their picnic table and they said they were finished with it and asked me to make an offer. I told them that I researched the machine and saw transmissions at $500-$600 so I offered $500 and it was quickly accepted ( I said to myself, Darn I offered too much). We paid and went on our way thinking we will be buying a transmission or rebuilding one. The next morning srtipped the plastic and power washed the chassi put it in the garage and decided to get the belt off so I could move it around easily. Not surprised what I found, a sreaded belt all tangled behind the clutches.. So sinse I had the old belt off my 330 I tried it, ajusted the chain started it and proceeded to drive it around the yard. Now after chain and sprokets, battery, rear master cylinder, new front tires and all fluids changed and lubed @ $411 I am riding a 500cc machine and "Oh Wow". So dont be afraid of the older machines, there are some bargains.

Oil drain plug dripping

So I changed the fluids on the sportsman and now it's leaking at the drain plug. Any ideas on how to fix this? I took drain plug out and plugged with my finger and checked for the copper washer and it was there. I didn't over tighten it I usually tighten it would the smaller side of the Allen so I don't think I could of over done it. Any ideas? It goes in easily and threads didn't seem messed up.

2015 Mav Aluminium front bumper, winch mount wanted

Hi folks, just bought a new Mav and now looking for a front winch mount for it, have the rear one on and organized. Can anyone steer me in the right direction for one please and any mods that go with it. I'm quite prepared to modify the ally bumper or take it right off if necessary, but nobody here has experience of this so desperate for info. Many thanks to any posters for any info at all, cheers, Red :smile

Outlander 800 XT fighting physics…

So here I am, working on a 2007 Outlander 800 XT...and it seems that the laws of physics have vacated cylinder 2. I suppose I should start at the beginning, before we get to the good part. This machine was brought to me as a no-start. 2761 miles/391 hours. Came up with a cam phase sensor code. Pulled the cam sensor, and looked inside to find no movement on the cylinder 1 cam gear. Timing job...no problem. Tore it down. #1 chain had broken. There were marks on the piston from contact with the valves, but very slight. The valves do not appear to be bent, and seat up with the head perfectly. #2 is fine, chain stretched, but intact, and no indication of interference. Order chains/guides, gaskets, oil, and filter. Install the new parts...double and triple checked timing. Adjusted valves, new NGK DCPR8E plugs. Starts fine, but runs rough, and is the new 'Gutless Wonder' trophy holder of the neighborhood. Cylinder 2 is not firing...at all. Things I have verified/checked again -multiple- times: both timing chains set properly - valves adjusted properly - strong, consistent spark on 1 and 2 - both injectors spraying properly/equally(also swapped) - no diagnostic codes showing - muffler cleared of carbon... No matter what I mess with, absolutely no fire in #2...as in, exhaust pipe at the head stays completely cold until heat makes it's way up from where 1 and 2 join up. Someone please point out if I'm missing something, but fuel and air go in the bedroom...spark falls through the window whilst peeping...physics demands that some kind of energy runs for the hills as heat. The -only- possible exception I can come up with, would be if somehow, the computer caught a case of the dumbs, and were sending spark at the end of the exhaust stroke - only to number 2. I'm absolutely perplexed, and completely baffled. With a large side helping of flabbergasted. I really hope somebody here can offer some insight. I wait with bated breath.
