Newbie ATVer

I have learned a lot from this site to help me get my head around what to expect from my new 850 XTP I pick up tomorrow morning. THANK YOU!

My first ATV (done some Rancher 400 2wd riding at buddies cottage.....not sure that counts though) and I am doing my first ride camping with it in the Temagami area this weekend. Its a thing of beauty and I can not wait!

Riding 2up at Hatfield McCoy

I know one website says you can only ride 2 up on a factory 2 up machine but do HFM trail personal really enforce that at all down there? We are traveling from Massachusetts the safest thing for me to do is trailer down my inlaws Polaris ranger to bring my son along with me but that's no can am. He rides on the back of my outlander that has a second seat built into my soft bags in NH all the time and we never have any issues from people. What do you guys think?

Lube specs

Hi everyone. I'm new to this place and i have a question. I just bought a 2000 magnum 500 and i want to change the front and rear diff fluid, also the transmission fluid. my question is ,do i have to use Polaris fluid? If not then what kind and weight of each do i use?I don't have an owners or service manual.Oh yeah, How much of each should i put in?
Thanks

Since traditional ski lifts don’t exactly exist on sand dunes to help sand boarders get back up the hill, these guys did one better and just hooked onto a Maverick X3 and ditched the hill all together. Smart thinking guys! A post shared by Reflex Beyond Extreme (@reflex_beyond_extreme) on Jul 25, 2017 at 1:18pm PDT more

2017 Polaris scrambler 1000 problem

Hi there I wonder if any of you could help me, I've got a 2017 Polaris scrambler 1000 with around 20 miles on the clock, Im having a problem when I'm riding which will happen randomly. The throttle seems to go unresponsive for 2 seconds, the engine doesn't cut out it's just like I can rev it full and there's nothing there, like I said it can run fine for 30 mins then start doing it every 15 mins after which really is annoying, as you will know these new models don't have a throttle cable it is fly by wiring, I've also got a 15 plate model which I've never had a problem with (old throttle cable type) i took it back from were I bought it from and they said they can't find anything wrong with it am I not pressing the brake etc which I told them I wasn't stupid, like I said only happens after riding for a while but it shouldn't be doing it it's a brand new machine, by the way there is no engine management light comes on when it does this so I can imagine it is hard to diagnose, I really am at a loss with this. Can you recommend me to try anything also have you ever heard of this before, it's as if the thumb throttle looses connection, I've googled it and can't find anything at all. Now what do I do go pick my quad up and leave the problem?

Kind regards

Steve

2001 sportsman 500 HO speedometer voltage issue

Just bought a very nice 2001 sportsman 500 RES . Speedometer not working when I bought it so got a good price. When I checked incoming voltage was only showing 6.2 volts. Does anyone know what would be causing the voltage drop from battery before I start having to run it down ? Got good 12 volts at battery. I'm really hoping speedometer is good so I don't have to bypass for AWD. Thanks for any help. This is my first ATV so excited about fixing it up.

battery problem 15 sportsman 850 SP

Hello, I need a little help or advice on a battery problem I’m having on my 2015 Sportsman 850 SP.

My dash has given me the lo battery display a few times. A few weeks ago, it displayed at between 10.5 to 10.8. I charged the battery overnight and within just a few minutes of riding the display on the ATV said 10.7 again. I removed the battery and brought it home, it set in the garage for 4 days (I never recharged it) I then checked it with my fluke meter and it read 12.2. I took it to battery’s plus to have them load test it and the test showed a good battery reading at 12.17v.

This weekend I plan on checking the battery on the quad with it running to see what I’ll get, but other than that, what else should I check? Which wires come from the charging system?

Thanks
Dave

trouble getting gas back up to carb after sitting

I am new to this forum so please excuse me if I violate any posting rules or etiquette. I have a 1995 425 Magnum 4x4 that I replaced all the fuel lines, filters, fuel pump, carb kit, shut off valve, and cleaned the tank. Prior to doing this it would start the instant you hit the switch no matter how long it sat. After doing this fuel system work, if I leave it sit any length of time (more than a couple weeks) it takes full choke and at least 30 seconds on the starter to get gas to the carburetor. I'm going to burn up the starter very soon doing this. It seems as if all the fuel must be draining completely back out of the system??? Can anyone help me figure out what to look for? Thank you!
