650 engine seized while driving!

Well, it seems my atv took a turn for the worst.

Last week while heading back from an ice fishing hole my quad locked up and motor seized. Here the turn of events. While riding I heard A sudden noise change in the engine. At that point I was trying to just get it back to my cabin. A minute later the engine just died. My electrical was flickering so I HOPED maybe the ground or leads came loose. So I check and everything was tight. Managed to get a friend out to help jump it. But it wouldn’t do so much as turn over for me. We managed to tow it back to the cabin and winch it onto the truck. After getting home I checked the battery voltage and everything was good with the battery. Grounding was good. So I then pulled the spark plug. It was really tough to get out which was not a good indicator. After getting it out I could see it was clearly mangaled. Not a good sign. So I took of the head cover and everything looks fine and in place. My thought is the valve arm broke and jammed up cylinder which is not good if it scored the cylinder or anything.

So I’m needing help with what it could be and the form of action I should take. Any idea on costs? I’m out of Lowe mainland British Columbia in Canada

Atv is a 2009? 650 outlander

2017 Outlander Max 570 low range issue

I just did a CVT service on my 2017 Outlander Max 570.
I cleaned the primary clutch, replaced the one way bearings, replaced the friction washer and installed a new Gates CVT belt.

The CVT is much quieter now and seems to be smoother after cleaning. (it was dirty, nothing bad though)

Now the gear selector is a bit easier to move and everything was working great until I switch to LOW range.

I was stopped, selected low and then started to accelerate slowly for about 3-6 feet. Then I appeared to slip out of low gear and heard the front diff? grind a bit and then no forward movement. I have only used low a couple of times. This hasn't happened before.

The second time I tried this today, i stayed in gear for perhaps 50 feet or so. Then the same behavior.

So why is this happening?
I have read about this a bit. Most folks state this is an issue with the gear selector linkage. Does this need to be adjusted or is this something else? All others gears work properly.

Thanks

North edition?

I'm starting to do my research for a new bike, I lost my old 06 Cat 650 in a house/shop fire last March. I wrenched at dealer level on Cats for quite a while and have ridden with every brand out there. I'm hard pressed not to look towards BRP, especially since I'm told I need to buy a two up.
The North edition piqued my interest as it comes with heated grips, windshield winch etc cheaper than I can equip an XT the same, however, it looks to have the extra low low gear from the 6x6 and XMR 1000.
Not sure if that is something I'm going to want or wish I didn't get.
Since the price difference between the 650 and 850 is only $800, that's a no brainer.
I will be putting a plow on it, and it will probably end up with 28" tires, as that's where I usually seem to end up.
What do you guys think? Is that extra gear reduction a good thing or not?
My closest dealer is a couple hours away, so I would like to do my research before I even go and look the first time.

2018 Sportsman 450 HO Won’t Start

I have a 2018 Sportsman 450 HO. It has less than 15 hours on it. I was plowing snow yesterday and it died on me. It restarted and ran for about 10 seconds and died and sounded like it backfired. I waited a couple of minutes and restarted it. It ran for about 3 minutes roughly and shut off. I pushed it back into the basement and pushed it out this morning to try to start it again. It ran for about 2 minutes roughly and shut off. It would not restart (engine turned). I pushed it back into the basement and checked the spark. The plug (Autolite) looked good and had spark when I grounded it to the engine casing and turned the key. I am using 87 octane gas with Ethanol. Should I drain the gas and try non ethanol or take it back to the dealer since it is still under warranty.

Rear diff noise & Excessive play on yoke

Hey guys . Noticed a rear Diff noise in my 2016 outty xmr 650. It has 500 miles. Drained it, and the fluid looked horrible- thick black full of fine metal shavings. Lots of play in the yoke and axles. Then after doing some research come to find that they are notorious of this. Have yet to pull it apart and inspect. But I’m wondering what the best fix is. Should I Rebuild the stock diff, buy aftermarket, get a xmr 850 diff etc. I’m assuming the drive shaft is outta phase as well causeing this whole problem. And wondering about where to buy a new shaft or getting mine reworked etc. I’m so pissed off that can a.m. would manufacture such garage. I bought this thing because I felt like the quality is so much better but am really starting to wonder. Also it has that can a.m. clunk coming from the clutch is there anyway to fix that ? It’s pretty embarrassing, and does it every time you goose the throttle.

Another new guy with an old Trail Boss 400 4X4

Hi folks .. from London, Ontario.

Playing with my new (to me) 1994 Trail Boss 400 4x4.
I had issues with reverse but fab'd up a helper leaver to my reverse linkage on top of the tranny. Bit of a nuisance but works.
Then started to do the wiring fix for faulty front wheel drive but checked the hubs first and keys on both axles were sheered ($6 for a bar of the stuff.. fixed).

Now... I don't want to ride it until I identify the centre light being on all the time (idiot light bezel missing), just in case it has something to do with the oiling system.

Does anyone have the same machine that can help a guy out? (see pic)
I've marked the two lights I know just by shifting.

Thanks in advance. I'll have a proper manual before too long, but was hoping to solve this sooner.

Cheers All..
