I'm a quite new ATV rider. My first one was a linhai, but was always broken so.. when I was able I bought a 650 XTP Outlander Max.
Now I try to enjoy my toy and learn how to keep it working.

Wiring: What is this for…

Fixin to begin to get started hooking up 2 new LED lights on my 2007 Sportsman 800. I've been putting it off, I hate automotive wiring.

So anyways, inside the front cargo area, under the cover where the fuses are, there's a wiring harness that goes to nowhere. It looks like this...





The part# is rubbed off. It's just sitting there, just wondering if it's anything useful.

motors blown….what are my options

Just like the title says, im completely missing a piston. i have a 2016 sportsman 850 high lifter edition. the head is fine, some how didnt get damaged at all. Im going to have to bore it out cause it did damage the cylinder wall, or buy a new top half of the block.


so heres the options ive come up with:

1. do a pretty stock rebuild on it, going to have to bore it out anyway so might as well up the compression a little bit. then, there is the possibility of a bigger cam, doing some head work, and trying to custom tune it.

2. buy a stock motor and put it in and be done, but thats boring

3. will a 1000 motor bolt up the the 850 trans and frame? if so ill probably buy a 1000 engine and go that route.

4. buy a new top half of the motor, up the compression, port the head, and leave the stock cam.

All of these options include pulling the motor and doing a full rebuild of the bottom end with new bearings, seals, getting the crank ballanced, etc.

Im also open to other suggestions. Id like to get this rolling asap though. kind of a kick in the face when you buy a quad thinking its going to be an easy fix and finding out its completely screwed. atleast i got a good deal on it.

bombardier outlander 400 rectifier help

hello.
my rectifier started smoking today, so i checked and its melting. its a 2003 4x4 outlander 400
it seems its not the original rectifier on, since there is no plug for the wires comming out of the rectifier, so i need to buy a new rectifier, but also need to install a plug for the new rectifier into the harness. but im missin a wirering diagram on where to insert the wires into the new plug that goes into the rectifier. google provided me with nothing. how to fix this ?

New tires – stock rims

I have a 2016 sportsman 570 and need to replace the back tires. I want to get 26 inch tires. Kendra bear cows to be exact. Can I get 26x11x12 for the rears? Right now I have 25x10x12’s

I have lurked for a couple of months. I figured it was time to post here. As I get on to this forum I will post more details and pictures. I purchased my machine in Oct 2018. I only got in a half dozen short rides before the snow started falling. The snow plow is fantastic, works better than I thought. Living on a mountain pass in Central Washington for over 40 years I use to swear by snow blowers. Both tractor mounted and walk behind. I sold my the tractor and the blower this fall, but I did keep the walk behind blower as it was still like new and has its place. I figured it would take me longer to clear the driveway with the Sportsman. I was wrong, much faster and with a bit of fun attached to it. I was pleasantly surprised at the ability to move some dirt around, (before the snow started falling).
Early February, I am going to load up the Sportsman into the back of my pickup, hook up my travel trailer and head down to Yuma Az. I know a perfect ATV friendly resort that has access to many many miles of ATV trails and roads in the desert. The access starts right out of the fence of the resort. I plan to stay 4-6 weeks and do as much riding as possible, probably daily.:grin I am not a extreme ATV rider, more like a trail exploring/touring type.
I do appreciate the information and help on this forum very much.
