Help! Fan / Temperature Issue

So... it's been a long road for us and our 2008 Sportsman 500 EFI. Learning as we go. We first encountered the over heating issue a couple of months back on a back country fishing trip. We noticed that the fan wasnt kicking on upon further inspection after we got it home.

So we changed the coolant that week, even though it didn't need it and just finally had a chance to change the water temp sensor today after being in pieces in the garage for over a month now. We noticed that when we disconnected the sensor that the fan would kick on. When we plug it back in, the fan then stops. It's a new sensor and we still have the same issue. The fan just won't kick on like it should.

What else can we check? Fan works, water pump works but were not getting a signal for the fan to kick on when the machine heats up...

Thanks guys and gals.

Sportsman 300 tires

I’m looking for tire recommendations for my daughters 300. Stock size was 23”. Locally I can get quadboss 448 in 24x8 and 24x10 for $226 a set. Anyone have any experience with these??

Or I was looking at kenda bearclaw k299 in 25”. I’ve also heard good things about black diamond ATR but they cost a little more

I’m open to any other suggestions...
Thanks

Did I do the right thing

Hello all I traded my 2011 grizzly 550 eps and I had a choice between a 2019 Grizzly 700 and an 2019 outlander 650 XT both dealers are giving me 5000.00 for my trade and the difference is 20.00 and the Grizzly was more. I went with the Can-am. Please tell me I made the right choice. Oh and both are Camo.

Front cv joint movement

I’ve got a sportsman with a loose ball joint but I’ve also noticed the wheel has play in the cv joint. If I grab the spindle, the movement is in the cv boot. Does this mean the cv joint is bad or is movement normal. There is no clunking sound when riding and the shaft turns the wheel smoothly. Other than some play is this ok ?
I searched but not good at it I guess.

Howdy from West Texas

Decided on a 2019 Defender Max Lone Star Edition last week. Added a glass windshield and some work lights to it. I will pick it up this week. Have owned a couple of Rangers over the years and I had the opportunity to test drive a 2019 Defender Max Lone Star Edition on a friends ranch about a week ago. I was sold! Can-Am seems to have really come out with some great machines.

This Defender will be used for work and hunting on my place.

Defender floor weakness

I have a 2016 Defender 8HD XT that is on it’s 3rd season. I love just about everything about it but hate one thing. The weakness of the floors. A month into my ownership I was on a grass farm road next to an established lane of trees. A limb about 1” in diameter poked a hole through the passenger side plastic just in front of the floor board...at the time, the hole looked so perfect I assumed it was some type of intended drain hole. However, since that time I’ve received a half a dozen or so hits by small limbs on BOTH driver and passenger in what looks like the same place. The floorboard is not the weak point rather right in front of it where your toes would rest...my questions:

1) Anyone else has had problems with the durability of this point.
2) Anyone know if there are factory skid plates my dealer may have left off.

I’m not beyond putting aftermarket skids on the underbody but wanted to bounce off others first.

I’m new to forum so if I can figure out how to add pics of damage I will.

Stalls when in gear hitting the throttle

I towed my sportsman up to the mountains in some snow. When I reached my destination I turned on my sportsman and it was idoling without a problem (no rough idol.) When I put it in H, L, N, or R and hit the throttle the red check engine light comes on and it stalls. Has anyone had this issue??
