Hi! So as i was driving my atv down the road, i heard this bang and some rattles and then i glided to a stop, the atv revs up and everything, but its like it doesnt go into gear... I've tried high, low and reverse and none of them work, it sounds fine and even roll so its just like its in neutral! :nerd anyone have an idea? Thanks; ME

Hi everyone. I Just got a 2001 sportsman 500ho this past week. Well today me and my son take it out finally for a ride. Well the person who owned it before me does not know how to run wench wiring..
Our weight we rubbed 2 wires raw and it shorted. Well I disconnected the wench for now because the issue is this the quad runs fine and everything. Though it will only start when the Key is a certain way. Like all the electrical stuff, lights, ignition, awd etc they actual key has to be a certain way for everything to work.
Now the wires that got messed up were 2 wires a (solid red) and a (white/red) wire. This all came out of the wiring harness by the battery. Now it seems only to be damaged right by the battery.
The (solid red) one looks like it goes to the rear tail light I am not sure what the small (white/red) goes too but I never had this issue.
I would appreciate any help I am not good with electricity, I know some stuff. Never seen an issue like this before though.
Oh I did get the wires fixed where they were burnt. Still have the issue. I love this quad but I need this issue taken care of because I cannot hold the key the whole time I am riding lol.

I am sorry for the long winded post tomorrow I will be able to get a video on exactly what it is doing. To help a little. I got this quad on a trade I already fixed a solenoid, I just hope this polaris is not going to be a nightmare. I really do love this atv. Coming from a Yfz 450 this rides like a dream.

bought 2018 Sportsman 450 HO in August. Want to do the first oil/fluid change. The manual doesn't seem to cover this model. Mentions 32 oz for transmission and 7 oz for the rear axle. Went to close-by dealer and he said its two separate units , and sold me Angle Drive fluid for the rear drive.
But getting down next to it, my 450 has a transaxle like my 2015 Ranger 570.
Sent an Email a month ago to the dealer I bought it from (1.5 hours north) and also directly to Polaris, neither has responded.

Manual is a piece of crap. no torques for the fill/drain plugs listed, wrong transaxle info. no fluids specified for each particular part (probably because they don't know what parts are on it.)

What fluid does it use in the rear transaxle? AGL fluid? I put demand fluid in the front axle and PS-4 oil in the engine.

Just picked up an STM secondary to be coupled with my vfj primary. The secondary is coming with a 35/40 helix, shims and a yellow spring. John was gracious enough to help me out with a good setup to start with.
