Riding dirty

I knew going in that the renegade’s lack of fender coverage would leave me dirty in wet/muddy trail conditions.

Couple hundred miles later I decided to do something about it. The BRP fender flares for the Renegade didn’t do it for me. Have seen them in person on a few Renegades and can’t say I like them.

The XMR fender flares on the other hand are a bit nicer in my opinion. Spent some time reviewing parts breakdown between the XXC and XMR and it seemed like a straight forward swap of components.

Decided to go give it a shot. It’s definitely not the cost effective option but I’m happy with the way it turned out. Was a very easy swap and only required drilling a couple holes for the flares. Everything else just screwed right into existing holes.

First ride out last weekend and I must say it’s a huge improvement. The Rene still gets sloppy but I remained relatively clean in comparison to before.

I also like the metal floorboard upgrade and more aggressive foot pegs. Also got more wheel clearance should I ever want to go larger tire package.

I was going to instal the BRP skids for the renegade footwell area. I performed some initial inspection and I don’t think they will fit. I’ll have to look it over again but it doesn’t seam to be compatible with the XMR setup. The catalog doesn’t mention excluding the XMR like it does on other accessories.

Main fuse blows

I’ve got a 2013 sportsman 500 ho and when I turn the key to start it the main fuse blows like a flash bulb. If I turn the key one click all the power works but when I turn it to start it the fuse blows. I can put in a good fuse turn the key to one click jump the solenoid and it starts up fine but I can’t start it with the key. My guess is I have a short in the ground? Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Bogging problem

Hey All,
So I'm dealing with probably something real simple but maybe now. My 98 300 xplorer when going through the puddles seems to bog a little losing some power but not stalling. As I get out of the puddle and it stops kicking up the water it goes back to normal. My first thought was an electrical problem, as they put the battery/solenoid in a really crappy spot right under the fender by the rear tire. The boots on the wires still look good, but who knows maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot.
Any ideas where to start appreciated.

Fan noise question

On my outlander 400, I got the noise that the radiator fan makes sometimes when it hits the shroud. I thought I read somewhere that guys were using washers to space the fan away from radiator, anyone got a link? I searched but couldn't find it.

Weekend Warrior

So I become the designated repair guy for my dad's machines and somehow inherited one of them. 1998 Polaris 300 Xplorer 4x4. His other one is a 1994 350L.
The 300 had a wrecked transmission when it was purchased, literally there was a hole in the bottom of it from the previous owners attempt to rock it out of a mud pit. 350 was a plow machine, so the a-arms were shot.
I joined up here for when I get stock on one of these project machines, because at this point lets face it they are gonna break and I've already broke em and fixed them :)

Starter Grinds; 2017 Sportsman 570

Hello group,
I searched thread and mostly came up with starter issues on older models.
I am wondering if there are any known issues with these. When I try to start, it will occasional "grind". If I retry it will catch and start. The grinding has been getting worse to where I have to try a few times for it to catch and turn over. Another thing, mostly when cold if I give a slight amount of throttle, it will 'pop', die and simultaneously make a laud gear clashing noise as the motor comes to a stop. The 'clashing' when it dies and grinding when starting sound similar. Could they be related on this model ?

Thanks,
Axle

Georgia: 2016 570 For Sale 130hours

Selling my 2016 Polaris 570. It has about 130 hours and 800 miles. It has been used primarily for prescribed burning and other forest management activities. Some plastics are a bit worn, the rear door is missing. This machine has been regularly maintained. It was intended for use in the stand, not just trails, so there is wear accordingly. I have all service/repair records if interested.
