Looking into buying skid plates for my XT 650. aluminum or plastic? anyone have anything good or bad about either? Cost seems very close, I like the black plastic look a bit better IMO but not sure how the plastic will stand up over time ….. Thoughts?
Tiger Tail Tow System
Well, it's been awhile since I talk about that gadget. Lately my rope broke and I wonder if anyone has changed rope in TigerTail or KFI products ? I know there are instructions with pictures and and it's write up how to ... but looks like it will take me some time as I have no experience with it at all. How does mine broke? it was to close to exhaust, and I didn't pay attention on trails, when I use it it rolled back little crooked and that's how rope get melted touching exhaust. I just did order new rope and going to raplace it some day. Have anyone had his rope broke ? What's your story ?:nerd
Utility Model vs non Utility Model
The Utility model is supposed to be geared lower than standard model. Does this mean it will not go as fast top end ?
If it is truly geared lower, it should have more low end power. Can anyone verify this ?

2018 sportsman 450 wont fit Superwinch terra 35, help
So I recently bought a new 450 and a few days later seen a really good deal on a superwinch terra35, bought a kfi mount from my dealership and the winch is maybe 1/4 inch to big... called kfi, superwinch and my dealer back and there is no mount for my quad that will fit a terra 35, I'd really like to stick with the terra 35 so I'm wondering if anyone else knows of a mount that will fit or how to modify the one I have, if not I guess im downgrading to the superwinch LT line... thanks for any help
Knocking noise 1996 Sportsman 400
Hi,
I just bought a non running sportsman 400 (2stroke). Had a damaged counter balance gear, but otherwise in very good shape, low miles, ect. So I replaced the gears and bearings on the counterbalance. Put it back in and fired right up. The only issue is that it knocks at idle. Not real loud but noticeably. As it revs the knocking stops. The atv only has 1000 miles on it and the engine has 125lbs of compression. Any ideas on the source of the knock?
Thanks in advance,
Jack

Another no start
I'm new the forum, I have a 2015 sportsman 570 efi, riding at Red Bank kept stalling before making it to trail head stalled 3 more times on the trail, then wouldn't start at all. Since then I can't hear fuel pump come on only ticking sound from relay (i think chassis) i switch it with the others but same result. New fuel pump and battery but same result, I'm at a lose, any thoughts?

Odd tire size
My 2017 sportsman 570sp hunter edition has 26X8r14 on the front and 26X11r14 on the rear. Seems to be a little difficult finding many choices for the front in the same size. Can I go to a 9” wide front with my stock wheels? I have the stock aluminum wheels that have came on the machine. I would like to bump up to 27” tires as there is more deals to be found on Craigslist but not sure if I would need to do a clutch kit or not. I will ride the occasional mud hole but mainly trails, gravel roads and the sand dunes. Thanks

Just joined can-am forums.
Ive been combing the threads looking general tech.
I have a 2013 I bought new & currently only has just shy of 18hrs & barn kept.
I noticed the awkward shifting since new & even took it back to the dealer about a year out to see if it was normal in which they said yes.
I see it mentioned on can-am forum to grease the grease the 1-way bearing IDK.
Ive noticed the belt housing boots sadly cracking up.
Is there any upgrades for these boots?
(I have a 2007 450 yamaha thats been kept most of its life outside under a leanto that isnt dry rotting)
My yamaha needs rebuilding & I dont see me repairing it so I installed my 29.5x10x12 onto the can-am.
The rear clears the tires fine but the front will contact in the center of the footwell DURING turns.
I may have to take a heat gun to the footwell but Im considering changing the spring rate 1st as I can see I increased clearance between the tire/lug/cleat & footwell when I pull up on the front of the atv.
Any suggestions overall on the 400
or any info on the front springs?
Im still combing the treads when I get the time.
Thanks
