325 Magnum, parking brake, or not?

I bought an old 325 Magnum for a back up to our work ATV, which is a 330 Magnum. The 325 is rough, and front shafts were removed so it's a 2x4 now (I assume they had hilliard clutch issues and took the shafts out)... but it runs really strong. I had to rig that goobered up shifter box, but it's working just fine...

Except... we don't have a parking brake. The 330 (a 2004 model I think) has the little lever to let you lock the front brake handle.

This 2000 model 325 Magnum doesn't have that style of brake lever/MC unit...

I'm pretty happy to get a strong machine with good tires and all else for 700 bucks. It's rough looking, probably been rolled a time or two... but these things are tough, as we all know. I found about 4 ounces of transmission oil in the tranny when we changed it yesterday. :eek ...and about 1/3 of the amount of rear diff fluid it should have had. Front was good, but we changed it anyway. So it's not been cared for much at all.

Maybe this brake lever/master cylinder assembly is not original to the ATV? It appears to have a mirror mount on it... I don't know.

If any of you have any advice here, we would appreciate it.

Dan

Sportsman 400 HO hot transmission cover

got a 2010 400 HO and the trans cover next to my left leg when sitting seems to be getting to hot. Is this the wet area of the transmission or are these belt driven? Not very familiar with polaris automatics and dont want to screw it up.

One Way Bearing Replacement

I will be tackling this project this weekend after hearing some bearing noises when engine braking down hills. Is there any tips for keeping the primary clutch from spinning when removing the bolt securing it to the machine? I'll probably do a write up with pictures if all goes well.

2010 550 X2 Cooling Fan/

Rode my wifes 2010 Sportsman 550 x2 today and did a bit of idling, had the cooling light flash and felt hot. Fan was not running. I parked it and let sit for a few minutes, turned key on, not started, and fan kicked in for maybe a minute then started cutting out. I wiggled wire connections off the fan and nothing changed. turned key off for a few minutes then back on and same. Do I have a bad fan motor I would assume? She rides around the farm with my boy everyday, usually not standing still like I was doing. She said it has seen light come on a couple times also.

I looked for an aftermarket fan and they still are spendy. Any good aftermarket fans for this?

Crazy thing I just put a fan in my '10 800 Sportsman this spring.

Thanks.

Oh, it has 5650 miles and 760 hours. It is no spring chicken but we bought it a few years ago with high miles and it has been the best quad we have had.

New to the site

I couldn't buy just one..... green one is 2016 and camo one is 2014. My girlfriend and I went out to the Wayehutta trail system in the US Forest in NC first weekend out. I initially just got the camo one for me to use hunting. Picked it up for the low price of $3500

Sportsman 1000 vs sportsman 850

What are the differences between the 1000 vs 850 ? I know 90hp vs 77hp .I've noticed 1000 has dual rear rotors,. 850 had single rear rotor ..but any other difference ? I test drove a 2018 850 feels smaller then the older 850's...do the 1000 and 850 share same frame,,axles ,, components ?

RVS – If You Didn’t Know

For those of us looking for more power but don’t want to give up our ECU’s for tuning, RVS now offers the ability to tune your own bike via a handheld tuner.
I have extensive experience with Mobile Tuning in the automotive sector and love this method of tuning.
This is not a plug and play, piggy back style tuning. This allows you to physically tune your ECU as if it were a bench tune.

Purchase the handheld device. Plug it in, pull your factory tune from your bike, save to your laptop, e-mail the file to RVS, they will reconfigure based on the stage you select, e-mail the tuned file back and you upload that into your bike.
Very fast download of 10 mins and very fast upload of 15 mins.
So in my case, stage 2, for $479 and 25-30 mins of my time, I gain 10 wheel hp.

This will be my next mod.

Big thanks and shout out to RVS for bringing us reliable mods!

04 sportsman no start after crash

04 sportsman 600 with an rm stator upgrade. Was running great until i crashed it. I rebuilt the carb a few months ago along with a ton of new parts including intake and exhaust manifolds along with gaskets. Will not fire. It is getting gas.. too much in my opinion because after a few cranks the intake boot is wet with gas. Been through the carb twice already and even swapped with another and get the same end result. Spark is there but cant tell if it is hot enough. Compression is even at 160 per cylinder. Scratching my head now
