ATV Crash and a long cold night on a mountain.

Hello all. A few years ago I made the mistake of riding alone when the unthinkable happened. I crashed and a year later I wrote about my misadventure.
Riders West Magazine ran my story over 3 issues.
I though if you have a little time to burn you may enjoy the story... Here are the links to all 3 issues. Enjoy....

New to the forums

Glad I found these forums. Im on older guy (48 - maybe old is relative), so I bought a used DS 250 for trail raiding with my wife and Kiddo in VT and NH (they ride in a SXS). Have to say, even though the DS 250 is considered a "youth atv", its plenty fast for me. If I had anything faster I would probably hurt myself (although a little more power off the line would be nice)

Glad I found these forums. Already found alot of very helpful information. I'm a novice mechanic for sure so all the threads are great resource. Really want to make sure I can service and fix the DS on my own.

2011 DS 250 Lean Mixture Problem

was running way too lean...backfiring alot. Plug was white.

Carb has been thoroughly cleaned. Fuel Filter is new. New exhaust gaskets (to be sure I didnt have a leak with the backfiring) Carb Needle height is set to 2nd to last clip slot at bottom. Still has stock jets. The only way to get it not so lean is to turn the air mixture screw all the way in - and I mean all the way until it bottoms out. It stopped the backfiring and runs pretty good (a little sluggish off the start). Plug looks better, but I m thinking there must be something I m missing if I have to turn the screw all the way in.

Anyone have any suggestions?
