Recently had to rebuild the harness from stator to the regulator, where the two sections are joined by a plug (under the sear area) had melted due to the regulator side having undersized wiring. Apparently it was an issue created by a changeover to a higher output stator by Can Am, but they didn't upgrade the wiring to the regulator. I've redone those three yellow wires in 10 gauge, with a kit to also replace the connectors at the regulator.
I'd seen a few threads on this forum about the issue, and it was suggested to also upgrade the red and black wires coming out of the regulator to 10 gauge. I have the new plug and wires ready to put in, but for the life of me I can't figure out where those wires end up. They disappear into the harness, and short of cutting the entire harness open to trace them, I'm not sure what to do. If someone can tell me where they go, (and pictures would be a huge plus) I'd appreciate it.
My other inclination was to cut them off and wrap them up, and then just wire the new plug direct to the battery, since I'm relatively certain the voltage coming out of the regulator is being sent to the battery eventually anyways to charge it, so I suspect that would work. But if possible I'd prefer to run them to the factory locations so everything is copacetic. Any help would be appreciated.
