sportsman 500ho has compression, spark & fuel but will not start?!
So I have an 01 polaris sportsman 500ho and a few years ago it randomly quit running. Got it out this winter, rebuilt carb, new spark plug, and fresh air filter. The machine is getting spark, and i checked the fuel pump and that seems to be working as it should because there is fuel in the carb bowl, but it will not start. Crank and crank with a battery jumper on it and it wont fire. Tried to pull start, same results. I adjusted the valves to spec, and checked the timing, and the cam gear was still marked where it needed to be. Did a compression check and it reads 75 psi. Now before you say this is low, please be sure of what youre saying haha, because some say it should be over 100 and yes, it seems low, but the manual claims 60-90 psi is reasonable I guess? (according to another forum). Oil level is where it needs to be, and coolant is full. SO.... what the heck, why wont it start! Ive heard of the cams on these getting the lobes worn down too much or something? maybe thats it? but i figured if i set valves properly it should be fine. I also dumped fuel straight into cylinder, no luck, as well as starting fluid into intake, no luck, which leads me to think its something timing or cam related but everything seems fine? what do you guys think. thanks in advance!
First ride after upgrades
Hey guys, I had been building up my 2015 800r outty for the past few months while everything was frozen and I just got out on the first big ride of the year on good friday. It performed amazing and blew away all the yamahas and polaris’ with snorkels and big tires. I really wanted to say to anyone who is looking into a radiator relocation and/or snorkeling, get the can am kits. The extra cost is well worth it. Everything fit together perfectly and the bike looks awesome. I have no doubts with the quality. And the can am yoshimura slip on exhaust sounds good and loud!
I was out to test this thing and I was not nice to it all day long! Had it floating with the whole rear under water at least 5 times. When I got it stuck straight up in the air for a minute or so the engine light started flashing and the engine was limited to about 4000rpm, it went away fairly quick after I started moving again. I assume because of oil going to the rear of the engine. Other than that it never complained about the rough riding.

Sportsman 850SP Clutch question
On my Sportsman 570, there was a setting on the secondary clutch, when you pulled it apart, you could move the spring to a different hole(giggity) and that was to use for an ATV at a higher altitude where the power was down a bit, and so the clutch would be a little more aggressive to compensate?
On a new 850SP(its a 17 or 18 year model), I put on heavier 27" tires and noticed a little drop in power and acceleration over stock.
Does this clutch also have a setting, where I can adjust the stock clutch to a bit more aggressive setting and get some of that drive back? even if I lose a couple mph on the top end, I don't need 70mph on a quad, you know? Would rather have a little more drive down low and in the midrange where I can use it.
If this quad does have such a setting, what is it?
Thanks!

Sportsman highlifter on assassinators…. mistake
Hey so I have a 17 high 850, with 29.5 assassinators on it. I will be installing a 2" lift kit tomorrow. This thing rides terrible now. Those tires are so stiff, running on beadlocks with no air and the tire doesn't flex at all. I realize the purpose of the tires and type of atv I have but I'm wondering with the lift I got, if I cut out the bump stops in the shocks I could get more travel out of them? Any other suggestions? And my shocks are turned down all the way too.
Procedure on removing gear box 2011 commander
The gear box went south on my 2011 Commander. Horrible grinding when shifting into high gear..
I down loaded the Can-Am shop manual and it shows how to remove the motor but has no indication of how to remove the gear box..
Has any one removed the gear box who can share the procedure on how to do the job?
Looking for a shop manual I can down load that shows the procedure on how to remove the gear box..
Thanks in advance for any help, support or guidance..

RZR $27.25 settlement
Looks like Polaris just settled for $27.25 million on those RZR bikes that were catching fire.
This is not good news for us who buy these things. Forget about the fires. The costs are going to go beserk.
I know It can’t end up good. Hope it won’t make them go BK.
Here’s some of the article in Business Journal
