Can I swap an ECU from the same year and model to test? Sportsman 570 won’t start

I would like to know if I can take a computer from the same year and model machine and swap it to my machine to see if it will start. My machine will not start and I have checked just about everything. Here is my story below which is why I want to swap a computer with another machine.

Thanks guys for your help. Here is my dilemma and the things i have checked or replaced. My machine was riding fine and then just died in the woods and would turn over but not start. I towed it home and have checked and or replaced the following. The machine has good spark and is getting fuel and turns over just fine but will not start only a small backfire occasionally if I give it some throttle while turning over.

1. Getting spark
2. Getting fuel
3. fuel pressure is good
4. battery is fine and turns over fine
5. flywheel key is fine
6. changed the cps even though the old one tested fine
7. coil tests fine
8. stator ohm check is a little off book spec but all 3 legs are consistent and none go to ground.
9. compression is good.
10. valves are within spec

So this has turned into a real head scratcher. I did find a slight bare wire on the stator wire that plugs into the rectifier. I taped it up so it should be a problem. But thats why I am trying to figure out if the machine will start and run without the stator plugged in. The only thing I can think of is maybe the rubbing wire shorted out the rectifier and maybe the computer in the process.

Sorry for being so long winded but as you can see I have checked just about everything I can.

Any help would be appreciated.

Upper rad hose

Hey guys need some help I got stage 3s for my 2015 Polaris scrambler 850 ho and I need the part number of the upper radiator hose that fixes the clearance issue like one from scramblers with fox shocks I bought one but it doesn't look right to me thank you ahead of time !

I have some work to do…

I dont know if you can tell from the pictures, but this is the aftermath of the ATV rolling over sideways 10+ times at a high rate of speed down a steep incline without a rider.....

It is surprisingly little damage considering. I am actually really impressed by how tough this thing is.

We changed the tire and drove it down the trails to camp (with no brakes). The front and rear racks are toast and the brakes master cylinder broke off. Steering Post is a little loose and the handle bar is bent just a tiny bit. Some dash lights dont work, but it runs smooth (ish) still.

I am OK, took a handlebar to the face but avoided most injury when it rolled over me. Wear your helmet people, Probably saved me a ton of injury. Helmet was cracked.

I am sure I will have questions as I try to replace things and get it going again.

Which tires should I stay away from?

I just bought a 570 sportsman during the spring sales event. Real good deal ($5388 plus tax). But anyway, I don’t plan on doing much muddling. Mostly country roads asphalt, trails and semi hard packed dunes. I want to go ahead and get some tires. Which tires should I get? I want to definitely stay away from any tread pattern that would cause a lot of vibration at higher speeds. Right now I’m looking at some 27” swamp lites with 14” itp black wheels. I will also be putting a 2” high lifter lift on.

New to Can am world

Just bought a 2017 outlander 650 XT. Was looking to see if other years of HMF swamp series will fit I keep find 12 to 14 years of them and they are much cheaper.

Hi from Norway

Hi fellow Can-Am'ers

Not actually new to this forum, was fairly active here some time ago but my old login didn't work anymore.
Been some time since I owned a Can-Am as I sold my 2009 Outlander 650 Max a few years ago. Now things have changed. I've moved back to my birthplace and can do a lot more wheeling so its time to invest in a brand new shiny ATV. Wohoooo!
Cheers!

2005 500 Traxter Rear Shocks

Hi, I've just created this account because I'm trying to locate an alternative to the rear shocks for my 2005 500 Traxter XT. I found where the front ones can be interchanged with a Honda Foreman, (2001 and up) but I'm uncertain about the rears. Any help will be appreciated as the OEM's are discontinued. Sorry if this is in the wrong topic selection, and thanks for any advice.

Differential oil

So it's time to charge the oil in my rear diff. What ki Ind of oil are you guys using? The OEM stuff costs quite a bit.

‘14 sportsman 570 service items

Hey yall, just bought this atv for use on farm and during hunting season. The atv won’t be for trail use or mudding. My question is, what all would be recommended for service on this unit. The unit has 72hrs and roughly 500miles on it. I’m not worried about which name brand of fluids to buy. This is my first atv and looking to do a full service on it before use. What do you all recommend changing as far as fluids go or anything else for a new buyer of used atv?? Thank you
