Sportsman 500 1996
Hello all, I'm new here and for an obvious reason, I need help please. I have an older sportsman 500 1996 that ran for years without a glitch and with minimal maintenance, now that I put new tires, changed all oils bearings and carb clean, does not run any more. I have a spark, I have gas on the spark plug and still does not start. Does not start with quick start , it feels like it wants to but never does. I've been at it for couple of days and I'm losing hope.
Please help. Tks

Variable low speed limiter
Hello all,
I just purchased a new 2018 Sportman 570 Utility. It has a feature on it called Variable Low Speed Limiter. This is suppose to set your speed from 7 to 14 mph for Spraying, Mowing, or Other Work. There is a switch on the concord for it. My dealer doesn’t know how to use it. I have searched the forum, and read the users manual. I’ve even tried doing a google search on the web. I can not any documentation for how to use it. Any help would be great.
I’ve tried to turn it on and go but it doesn’t nothing. I’ve tried in both hi and low, 2x4 and AWD, but no luck.
Thanks in advance for your help.

high vs extra high windshield, what do you prefer?
I just bought the high windshield kit from canam 715003022
The kit is a pain to install, and there isn't much force in the two brackets preventing the windshield from rotating down with vibration, we will see how it holds. (it doesn't rest on anything, the 2 plastic brackets just hold it around the handlebar....). I had to degrease the handlebar and brackets with alcohol so they wouldn't freespin... (cheap). If it doesn't work, I will just buy a L bracket or something and screw it in the lower part of the windshield...
My concern is that when sitting straight, you are looking above the windshield. So, to get actual real wind protection (cold, bugs, etc) you need to bend your back and neck to get the air to flow above your head. That usually gives me back and neck pain pretty quick.
So I just wonder, is that windshield height any use, or should I just get the extra-high that actually allows you to sit straight and have your face covered by the windshield?

Cargo Box Input?
Greetings all, I recently got back in to the sport with a 2014 Sportsman 570 EFI. I'm trying to get a cargo box mounted and am having troubles. I bought the Quadrax Pilot and am having troubles getting it on. The rear plastic rack only have metal bars that run around the perimeter, which is wider than the box virtually all the way around. I've decided to return this cargo box for another one. Question is, what's the best way to mount a box to this plastic deck thingy!?!? Has anyone encountered the same situation? Your input is appreciated. :nerd
2009 Sportsman 400 HO air box ???
i bought a non running sportsman 400 HO. The guy i purchased it from tried making repairs but just made a mess of it. I cleaned the carb, new plug, new engine harness and new cdi. The quad will start and idle but will not take any throttle without cutting out. It is missing the air box as he lost it so i know that most of my running issues as these carbs rely on good vacuum and some air restriction. My problem is i can not find a airbox for 2008 to 2010 400 anywhere, other than buying every single part OEM which is crazy expensive. Im sure i could just throw a cone filter on there with a jet kit but id rather have the air box for the obvious reasons. Do any of you know what model air box that would be similar enough to make it work with modifications, i have seen several early 2000s sportmans 500 listed on ebay for 50 bux that look similar and i am tempted to try that, any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:grin

Sportsman 450 runs terrible
Hello Polaris enthusiasts,
I am new to this forum but look forward to years of dialog with everyone.
I bought a 2006 Sportsman 450 4X4 ATV, automatic transmission, a couple years ago with only 625 miles on it and it seemed to be quite a nice machine. It barely has 750 miles on it now. Please forgive my ignorance if I am listing things that are obvious to some of you since I'm not familiar with all of the models; at least not yet. For all I know, all Sportsman 450s are 4x4s.
Anyway, I didn't notice at first because it seemed to run fine when I got on it and just drove but I realized a couple months later that when under any kind of load, other than just cruising, that it seemed to have no power. For example, when my lady and I were moseying down to my deer stand to drop off some apples it seemed to be unable to back up the most insignificant slope when we were both on it and we are average sized people, 180 and 140 pounds or so. It seemed like a carburetor issue in my mind. Then a few weeks later we were trying to drag some rather small logs (or large posts) around and it just had no power. It also seemed to idle just a little to low and would stall in a few moments if I didn't tend the throttle to prevent it.
I have looked online a bit and it seems like there is no real adjustment to the carb jets other than the idle screw. I tried to tweet that but now the things runs absolutely horrible at real slow speeds and I wonder if I just need to clean the carb, rebuild it, or whatever. It backfires, won't idle on its own, and when trying to go at idle speed it just gets jerky by touching the throttle a little, so I let up and it stops, touch the throttle and it jerks to fast, let up, it stops, etc.. It almost seems comical. The plugs seem fine. The fuel has been replaced.
How hard is it to remove and clean or rebuild the carb or does it sound like something else. I'm told that there are no jet adjustments and they are factory sized with no adjustment. Any suggestions?
