06 500 EFI Questions.

Hello All,
I have a 2006 500 efi, I cannot lock down a good file mileage number? I seem to go from full on the gauge to empty with no movement. I will ride a days worth of trails 25-40 miles and have to add approx 3 gallons with no movement on the gauge. I'm thinking the float needs cleaned? or any info you all may have would be greatly appreciated. Also what are thoughts on adding some injector cleaner to these systems? Lastly has anyone changed out a rear cv axle? I demolished one on a trip to Hatfield last week and got a replacement from Sixity just wondering how terrible or not it is to knock out.
Thanks in Advance for any and all info.

As part of the new Action Figure’s 2 film from the Nitro Circus, Phil Smage attempted to break the world record for longest UTV jump at the Brimestone White Knuckle event over the weekend. Unfortunately, Smage had too much speed and overshot the landing by a huge margin. He was transported via helicopter from the event and later shared this update […] more

RZR Truggy: Modded Mondays

An aftermarket roll cage and a clean wrap is nice, but it’s a far cry from what we would consider “custom.” This crazy creation, on the other hand, with its fully custom chassis and unique body paneling designed to mimic a “truggy” or truck and buggy hybrid is totally awesome. And judging by the photos, the owner […] more

Belt tension question

I got my secondary clutch put back together on my Xplorer 300. It seems to move smoothly. I installed those $20 plastic clutch buttons. I think the main problem was the inside was packed full of fuzz which locked the clutch up.

I installed the belt but I think I have way too much slack. I know your supposed to measure the deflection with a ruler at (1 1/8") but just from looking at it, appears there is way more than that. But I'll check this first with a ruler.

Questions:

The manual says to remove shims in the secondary clutch to decrease belt tension. Just like setting the V-belt tension a car with a split crankshaft pulley. Like an old VW or Fiat. If anybody has ever messed with these old cars.

How much does each shim decrease the belt deflection? Quite a bit or just minimal?

Problem is I had to bring the clutch into work just to borrow some snap ring pliers from a mechanic. Mine would not spread wide enough. I even tried using some Knipex snap ring pliers I bought especially to remove a 4" snap ring from a Garrett T25 turbo and it wouldn't work. So I'll either have to borrow some pliers to take home or buy some that will spread wider. Instead of having to lug this thing into work a couple of more times.

And it mentions to leave at least one shim. There are three shims on mine.

The other question is, if removing 2 shims still does not decrease the belt deflection to 1 1/8", can the engine be shifted forward by loosening the engine mounts?

Should I just do this instead of messing with the shims?

Please advise.

Anyone on here tow their atv with a car?

Hey guys. Wondering who on here tows their atv's with cars? Need to upgrade as my Toyota Yaris isn't capable of towing my 570. But maybe a larger car like a Camry or impala would do it reasonably? Yes a truck or suv is ideal but gas is through the f*cking roof here in NL now haha

Eps cutting out under wot

2015 Scrambler 1000 XP, under wide open throttle typically above 50 mph I’m experiencing my EPS light on the dash turning on so I lose all eps, also at the same moment when that happens the headlights shut off. Sounds to me like a voltage regulation issue but has anyone ran into this? I’m new to Polaris vehicles and need some guidance on what to check first.

Scrapes on the inside of front wheel

I am greasing the wheel bearings on my 850 HL and noticed only one wheel had these scrapes...the brake disc looks fine and not showing any scrapes...maybe something got logged in there with previous owner maybe?

2001 sportsman 90 leaking gear oil

So I got a sportsman 90 for my daughter used and worked out most of the problems. If you let it sit for a day or 2 in my garage there will be a little oil on the floor. I cleaned it really well and looks like it is leaking right out of the center case gasket. So I was thinking of replacing it. The guy I got it from doesn't know how much time is on it he is the second owner. I put a new topend on it and it is running really good. If I split the case should I put a new crank and bearings in it? How do you check the needle bearings on the bottom of the connecting rod?
