Gentlemen,
Have the subject and it will not Idle @ 1200 rpms.
Here is the deal:
Carb has been cleaned numerous times
New float bowl seat and O Ring. New float bowl needle. Reset the floats to 14.5 mm spec from polaris.
New 40 pilot jet.
New 140 Main Jet and needle.
Pilot screw set at 2.5 turns out.
Choke is clean and closes completely.
Checked float bowl level by checking level with bowl drain line and fuel comes up to the mating surface of the bowl and carb.
Here is what the machine is doing:
Machine will crank and start only if throttle is pressed and butterfly valve is opened.
Machine runs and responds to pressing of the throttle, but will not idle. Good power when riding at >4000 rpms, Below 4000 rpms get hesitations
Machine will idle with attention to throttle lever. Machine will surge from 1400 rpms form to 2100 rpms but will not idle, if you do not stay on the throttle the machine will die.
Appears to me that at low idle speed the machine is running too rich but I may be wrong. It could be lean, but seems like there is excess unburned fuel in carb and air filter.
I have taken this mikuni carb in and out of the machine four or five times with various adjustments to the fuel mixture screw and nothing seems to fix the idle issue . Today I focused on the choke but it seems to be closing properly.
Carb Boot is good no rips or tears
Good fuel with sea foam mixed in. I'm at my wits end. Have rebuilt many carbs with no issues, but this one has me baffled. Beginning to hate BSTs
Thanks !:sad
