hey guys looking for wisdom again. This sportsman is breaking my bank! So I got this sportsman used re built the motor with shop manual. (I like fixin my own SH!T). So I installed new crank, bearings, con rods, heads rings, and cylinders honed. Triple checked timing and adjusted valve clearance, fire it up runs like a champ but I hear this slight clicking sound so I shut er down and popped the valve cover off and timing was still in spec buuuuut exaust valves were stuck open. ripped motor out... again and yup exaust valves wont budge but thank the lucky stars there is no damage to pistons. so... Question What the F**k causes this? cant seem to find any info on these things except for people bashing them. Oh and I double checked if cam gear spun on crank and all good thank god. load me up with knowledge brothers. oh and another thing I should mention, how do the tensioners work on these things it says hydraulic. I was told they don't operate proplerly and cause teeth to skip on chain. when I popped off flywheel cover and TDC was bang on with cam gear, which had a sheered pin on cam shaft (dowl pin). quad has 5000kms on it about 5 mins run time on bottom and top end re build.
