1999 Big Boss throttle sticking– bad

Throttle stuck wide open. Label on throttle control states ". . . this machine equipped with ETC, Electronic Throttle control, to PREVENT stuck throttle situations"

Uh, yeah, right! Wiped out my wife's flower bed and hit a tree at full throttle 30 minutes ago with brakes on full and wheel sideways trying to avoid. . . had to turn off key switch to stop. Now it is running WOT at IDLE even. What a . . . expletive removed but there were lots!

Some symptoms:
-- lately it has acted up a bit by going to high throttle and then self-reducing back to normal so I have opened up the throttle control and see nothing wrong, spring and cable seem to be working normally. This has happened at random and only a bout 5% of time in use.
-- noticed smoke coming from a white wire up front on left where a bundle of wires enter a little black box behind radiator, out in open fastened to a bracket holding the back of radiator. Smoked stopped quickly. Seems like the timing may correlate with start of these problems or soon thereafter.

WHAT is that little black box? about 4x3" x 3/4" thick. see photo.

Why would a wire be SMOKING? Aren't there fuses to prevent stuff like that?

Dealer not open yet today but I would appreciate some input on this. Could it be the ETC system is that black box and is that the thing actually causing the problem, ironically, since it is supposed to actually PREVENT this?! Unreal.

2000 transmission removal

Picked up a 2000 Scrambler 500 4x4 with a bad tranny. Trying to get it out of the frame. I think all the bolts are out of the way. It will wiggle but seems stuck between the frame tabs that the swing arm attach to. Almost looks like there is a pin or dowel that holds it into the inside of left side of the swing arm but there is not enough room to slide it to the right and get it free. Any tips would be appreciated!

Trailblazer Electrical issues Please Help!

Hello everyone! I am new to this site but I have used this site to help with a lot of different issues with my wife's ATV. We have a 2010 Polaris Trailblazer 330 that has been a nightmare as of late. I bought this for my wife to ride about a year and half ago. I assumed that it needed some mechanical repairs since it was evident that it had suffered from very little maintenance. It did start up and run very well and I was informed that the guy did put a new battery in it before I bought it. I did end up replacing the rear axle, bearings, chain, sprockets and resealing the transmission since it had a slight leak. After all that was done, we took out the atv's a few times and no issues. I did let it sit all winter with only starting it a few times to let it run. We really don't use the Polaris in the winter since it is only rear drive. I have tried to charge that battery and see shat happens. The next day I go out to start it and its dead again. So I tried the pull start and got it started. I noticed that the lights were a little dim and if I would out on the headlight or pull the brake handle to light up the brake light the quad would stall. Well i knew that cant be good.

I came across this site and came to the conclusion after reading into my problem that it may be the voltage regulator. I did test the stator and everything seemed to be perfect. So I bought a new regulator and battery. Installed both units and the quad fired right up. I checked the battery voltage with the quad running and it read 14.8 volts at idle and with the engine revved up. I assumed that everything was good. The wife and I took the quads out once for a day trip and there was no issues. When we were done, I parked the quad in the garage and didn't touch it for two weeks. When I did go to start it, the battery was so low on charge, it could barely light the tail light bulb. I tried to start it with the pull start and it starts but like before it will stall if i use any lights and it also misses and backfires if i try to rev it up. I checked the voltage at the battery again it still shows 14.8 volts while running. I thought that maybe I have killed that battery with a power draw. I hooked up a multimeter to check for power drain and it read .413 mA drain. I looked over all the wires and everything looks good so i tried the fuses and they didn't change anything. I then disconnected the Rev limiter behind the headlight up front and the voltage drain decreased by half. I also then disconnected the voltage regulator and the drain totally disappeared. I have just ordered that factory service manual from Polaris for this atv. I am guessing that I need to replace the regulator again, the rev limiter and the battery? Has anyone had this kind of problems with their atv's? I really thought that there would be very little issues with this model since it was so basic unlike my Kawasaki Brute Force 750.

CVTech Primary, Where to buy?

Hey all,
where is everyone buying their CVtech clutch's from? I called a few places and some are telling me they custom tune them, others say they are straight drop shipped. Would figure they have to be tuned to what my machine is running (tires, exhaust, mods, etc...). Just want a good place if im gonna spend this kind of money.
Also, is it worth doing the secondary clutch as well or is primary good enough?

right now im running 30" tires but thinking about 2" lift kit with 32" or 33" tires.

HMF tuner

Don’t Know what happened

Hi everyone I am new to the atv world. I bought a 2014 sportsman 570 eps the other day. It was used in winter to plow and stored the rest of the year. It had 45 miles and 2 hours. I was riding around the block as I heard a few loud pops and stalled, and then it wouldn’t start back up? Any idea on what the problem could be. Yes it had gas and oil. Thank you I’m advance.
