What burns up the voltage regulator

Just purchased my first wheeler, a 00 xpedition 425. The guy said he just changed the voltage regulator because the lights weren't working. Got the bike home ran fine the first day and then the next day it wouldn't start with the ignition so I pull started and it fired right up. Started smoking and I pulled the front end off to see the voltage regulator burnt up. I know a new VR is needed but what other diagnostic do I need to perform to see what burnt it up before I burn another new one as this was brand new the guy said.
Thanks for any info

Brake sensor issues 500 efi 2008

Hi have a 500 efi 2008, when I brought it, brake light never came on and it wouldn't start when holding the brake, this forum directed me to the brake sensor switch which was unplugged, plugged it in and it starts in gear with the brake which is good news, but it does mean that the rear brake lights are stuck on permanently ( this must of been the reason it was unplugged), I need to get the back brake light working correctly, for the MOT and also I didn't want to go back to having to put it on Neutral or park to start it, is there anyway of working around it, does the sensor sound faulty or should I look elsewhere for the problem

Headlight Switch

I have a 2004 Bombardier Outlander 400 and my headlight switch is busted. Well actually it's not busted but i am missing a important part. I wanted to see if any guys on here by chance had the part i'm looking for and may be willing to sell. I know I could buy a whole unit but they a spendy and the current one does work just missing my ability to switch between high and low beam.

It looks like the piece just slides down in and clicks into the white piece containing the electrical contacts for high and low beam.

3500lb Polaris Winch Problem

OK, I have a 2017 sportsman 570, added 3500lb winch and plow, did great removing all the snow this winter :)
When i removed plow for storage i noticed that the winch will only allow about 3' of rope to come out before it reverses polarity and pulls back in....(never noticed while plowing due to never using more than 1.5' of rope). Looks like maybe a kink in the line or something, but is there anyway to fix or to release tension and pull rope out and correct???

Thanks!

Troy Lee verses Standard

I would like to hear from you all which is better of the 2. Please tell why you like the one you chose. Is the TLD better than the STANDARD PREDATOR 500, OR STANDARD better. Thx

300 xplorer with 25in tires?

Hey I have a '96 300 Xplorer 4x4 and would like to install 24 or 25in tires front and rear. I know the stocks are 23/7/10 and 24/11/10 but they are way too small.

I like the look of the 24s on the 400 magnum my family has and would love to just buy a set of used 12in rims with tires but most seem to have the same dia front/rear.

I have also heard that if you do not have smaller tires in the front (at least 5% smaller cir up front) that the hubs will not engage the 4x4. I am not concerned with torque or speed.

Let me know and any pics of a xplorer 300/400 with 24s or 25s would be great.

Front diff seal busted

After 700 miles both oil seals started leaking . What is the best replacement oil seal for the front differential? OEM or aftermarket brand?
