How Much “Maintenance” Have You Done?

Hey guys, I've been running into a lot of problems on my 2014 Scrambler 1000 lately. It seems like every time I start to fix something I find about 3 more things that need to be changed.

My quad has a little under 3300 miles and 149 hours and I basically ride it to it's limits every time I ride. With that said, I change all fluids every 25 hours and grease what I can every 2 or 3 rides. I wash and inspect it after every ride and it has never spent a day outside. basically, I ride my machine hard but I also maintain it to a higher standard than what the book calls for.

Below is a list of what I've come across while doing maintenance. What parts have you changed so far? And do you think it seems "excessive"?

Bushings @ 1100 miles
Front Prop Shaft @ 1800 miles
Wheel Bearings @ 2100 miles
Upper & Lower Ball Joints @ 2100 miles
Both Front Knuckles @ 2100 miles
Steering Stem Bushing @ 3200 miles
Pinion Cover Seal @ 3200 miles
Tie Rods @ 3200 miles
Bushing Sleeves @ 3200 miles
Pinion Gear @ 3200 miles
Both diffs have play where axle stubs enter
Rear diff has input shaft play

Personally, I wish it would have held up better. But for my size and the way I ride, I guess it's actually held up pretty well.

1998 flywheel

I bought a sportsman 500 for $350. It needs a new flywheel. One magnet came loose. My question is this, I found a used flywheel for $75. I found some on EBay for $250 and up. Should I go the cheap route and buy the $75 One and put some JB weld on the sides on the magnets. Or should I bite the bullet and buy a new One?

98 gear indicator lights

Hello all, I just picked up a 1998 sportsman 500. I noticed when it's in neutral the reverse light is on. When shifting to reverse the reverse light is one. The light will go out when shifting into high and low. Is there a switch that I can clean off or check?

2017 sportsman 850 Fender Protectors

Good day,

I've tried 2 different sets of fender protectors from Kimpex to install foot pegs on my 17' 850 sportsman SP. The new redesign of the rear rack, neither (even the "universal") fits.

Does anyone know if anyone makes these yet for the new Sportsman SP models?

Thanks in advance.

Rear transfer case yoke

Alright guys I snapped my rear yoke coming out of the transfer case I ordered a new one, it's about an inch longer than Factory but it is a Can-Am OEM replacement will that affect anything or can I install it?

Looking for an 850

Hi, I have been looking for a few months for a used 850, either XP or SP (depending on the year). I would prefer low mileage, etc.. The problem is, I found the section on this site where people were posting what they paid. The difference between a low mile used and a new isn't that much in some cases.

So my questions are:

What would be a good deal on a 2103 or newer 850 XP or SP with low miles?

Does anybody know of a dealership that is offering great deals now on new or last years models?

Does anybody have or know somebody who has a good deal on a low mileage 850?

I don't mind traveling or having it shipped if it makes sense. I live in Utah.. and these are hard to find for a decent price.

Thanks,

Mike

Preferred PSI on Your Rig

I have the stock 27 inch Maxxis Vipr tires my 17' LE came with. I have always rode them at 7 PSI when I ride on hard rock, however I haven't got to test around wit any other PSI. The max PSI for an ATV show 7 PSI where as it is 18 PSI for a UTV.

I am going to my parents this week for Thanksgiving and they have much more compact dirt to ride on than hard rock. What is everyone's preferred PSI? I imagine if I ran 12-18 PSI I could haul butt faster without getting the wander feeling that I get at 7 PSI? I was thinking about trying 10 PSI and going from there. This is a random thread, but I still find it interesting.

Thanks,

-Derek

14 sportsman 800 6×6 no power!! Help!

Hello! I just took over managing a business with 2 2014 sportsman 800 efi 6x6s! Previous employs treated like toys and both need work! The one I'm fixing now lacks power and sputters sometimes! I have been going thru post and eliminating issues! NO flash codes come up! Great spark on both cylinders ! Fuel pressure steady 40psi at all rpms! Air filter is a bit dirty! Machine bogs down going up hills under load! What else should I check! Clutch looks to be working fine upon inspection!! I was told both machines only ran right a year and have been sitting 2 years! Yes gas is fresh!

guys need help, my starter was spinning but not engaging so I replaced with a new one and it is still doing the same thing. I wanted to ride anyway so I pulled started it and when I put into gear it would not move. are the two issues related? Does it have something to do with the sprage assembly? could use some input.
