Bent rim, broke the bead

I went riding a few weeks and got a flat couldn't keep air. Got home and it turns out my rim bent and air leaks around the rim. What do think, can I salvage this or do I need a new rim? My opinion is I can hammer it out and apply a fresh bead.

At the risk of asking a dumb question - does the blade rest on the ground? Or are the skid shoes supposed to rest on the ground?
