06 predator bad tranny

New to site so sorry if posted in the wrong area.
I got a 2006 predator with a bad tranny. I got it ripped apart and it's nothing to bad. Just bent fork and one snapped. Also chewed up gears. My question is if can I fit a different tranny with out reverse in my case and have the reverse still work? Something newer or older. I've looked for days now on ebay can't find any for the rights years. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Witch rivets on a dalton kit 850

Alright guys. Got a dalton kit given to me, was on the fence between buying one and buying a primary. Free is the winner for now. What have you guys that have run a kit used for rivets when installing? I?ve heard some say none and I?ve heard some say brass. Going on a 17 850xxc with 28s

What did I wreck on my new Sportsman 850???

When for a joy ride today and buried her pretty deep. Was washing it and noticed this hose hanging loose? If washed it a few times already and never notice this, so I assume it got ripped out of place today. Anyone have any idea what this is, and where I should plug it back into? The picture is taken from the left front wheel looking in. Thanks for you time!

4WD kicks out

Hi Guys,

New to the forum. I searched for an answer but no luck. I'm doing some maintenance on my 2003 Sportsman 500, and have it on the jack with the tires off. I started the bike and was running it in High to reflush the front diff, when I noticed after engaging the 4WD it only ran for about 10 seconds than shut off. It did this everytime I turned the 4WD on. I'm wondering if this is some kind of "safety" that the bike detects it's spinning too freely and disengages. Any thoughts?

2005 Sportsman 500 HO brake lever modification

Hi all,
First post here and hoping someone can help me?
Have an issue with reaching the lever for the brakes on the left hand grip, due to losing fingers from my left hand. (see photo)
I am wondering if anyone has modified their Sportsman to have an adjustable lever to bring it closer to the grip and make it easier to grab/reach?
I have looked at the modification to moving the lever to the right, which is still a possibility, but I'd like to keep things reasonably similar if I can?
I have also looked at aftermarket assemblies which seem like they could do the job, but as I don't know the length and diameter of the brake piston in the master cylinder, I am not sure what size to buy so it will function correctly?
Another possible option is to remake a new lever using 3D printing or CNC, but this is not my preferred option at present..
So in short...has anybody put an aftermarket lever on their machine and has it proven to work well?

1998 Polaris Sportsman 500 Starts and Dies!!!

Hello, have a 1998 Sportsman 500 that will start, but runs like crap. If I take the airbox off I can keep it running, but if the airbox is on, I have to keep fluttering the accelerator to keep it running. If I push the throttle past half way, it bogs down and dies. It backfires through the carb and there is gas in the boot that connects the carb to the airbox.

The cam and rocker were replaced so I don't think that is the issue. We rebuilt the carb today, but that really didn't change the way the quad runs.

I am hoping to get some suggestions on how to proceed as I am at a loss as to where to go next?

Storage boxes

The front rack is busted on my Xplorer 300. The PO had repaired it with Gorilla glue and nylon ties. I was considering removing it, using it as a template and making a new rack out of a piece of 1/2" plywood using a jigsaw and painting it black with some Rustoleum.

Then I got to wondering, why not just make an entire hinged box out of 1/2" plywood, maybe 4 to 6" tall to go on the front and one maybe 8 to 12" tall to go on the back.

Use some of those rubber tie down things from Northern Tools, some cabinet hinges and a cabinet lock. And some vinyl and quilting padding from a fabric store as a back rest.



I looked to see if someone already made something like this. Well they do but the ones I found are $150. Not to sound cheap but I think I could make one these cheaper out of plywood and hardware from Lowes.

New to Forum – What snowplow do I need?

Just bought a 2005 500HO and would like to know if anyone has any aftermarket plow mount/frame/blade recommendations? Not a huge fan of the u-bolt clamp style mount. Wanted to buy a new Polaris mount but new ones are not compatible according to Polaris. Any help would be appreciated of a brand / style or how to modify an existing Polaris to fit my 500. Thanks.

Thanks for having me. I have a 2017 450 HO sportsman and I think it is great. Crazy thing is that I bought it new last month and this morning while putting out corn, I had less than 13 hours. I know this because I've been vigilant about the break in hours for the first oil change. Anyway, stopped the atv to fill a feeder and when I turned it back on, the hours had jumped ahead by 20 hours and the service light came on. I didn't leave the key on and certainly not for 20 hours. Has anyone experienced this before or am I just the lucky one? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

2004 question

Sometime back the 4 wheel drive started acting up, then here recently the entire speedometer cluster died.
Did some reading and decided based what was was seeing I replaced the cluster.
Only thing that accomplished was making my bank account $357.48 lighter.
Back to reading and saw where it was suggested to check the fuseable link near the battery. There were two of them actually but both tested good.
Next suggestion was to check the brown ground wire. But no answer as to where it was or where it grounded.
Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, on where/how to solve the issue?
