I am new to the atv world as i just bought a 2002 Polaris Magnum 4x4. Everything is running fine except the steering column seems to pop up and out when i pull on the steering/ handle bars. This happens most when im riding up hills and am holding on with my body weight behind it. Any ideas? I have a feeling it is a loose nut somewhere but i cant seem to find it. I can still ride with it but i dont want it to get worse. thanks, ben

Taking a Sand Shower at The Oregon Dunes + Video

While high winds aren’t always enjoyable to ride in, without them, you’d never have the pleasure of putting fresh tracks on a smooth, windswept dune. This video below shows just how easily sand is moved around by the wind at the Oregon Dunes. With a little help from a Banshee of course. A post shared by Josh […] more
2004 Magnum 330 Running Issues
Gentlemen, I do need some advice. Bogging real bad, installed new carb. It ran like a new one for about 20 mins then went to pieces. Installed a new coil. Problem solved ran it all day long everything was fine. Parked it in the shop and this morning it is shutting down on me. Starts immediately, runs good up to half throttle then it acts like it is loosing ignition. If it was a 2 cylinder it acts like one of them is shutting down. Hope that makes sense. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sportsman 500 efi engine cuts out/misses
Hey all, new here.
I've been struggling with this issue for quite awhile. I'm not super mechanical, but I've got a buddy who's an excellent mechanic.
I've got a 2008 500 EFI. The engine cuts out/misses at around 4200-4500 rpms, then comes back fine. (roughly around 18-22mph) It seems like it would be an electrical issue but he doesn't know enough about Polaris electrical systems. It's not throwing any codes.
so far we've:
replaced air filter
spark plug
fuel filter
I've seen where the symptoms can present as a worn cam. Last weekend we tore into the engine and he said the cam looked fine, and adjusted one valve. the rest of the valves were correct. Didn't fix the issue.
I just saw today looking around the forums here where it could be a tmap wire? Any thoughts? The problem is irritating the heck out of me and I just want it fixed. I don't want to keep dumping money into parts it doesn't need. That's not in my family budget. And I don't want to take it to a dealer and have them not be able to figure out the problem or fix something that isn't wrong. Other than that the machine is great.
If anyone can point me in the right direction it'd be greatly appreciated.

New here – purchased a mudder
Hey guys,
Got a pretty nice deal on a 2-yr old MR 1000. It has the nice Mudzilla's mounted on S6 rims. The 2-up with box. The "Air Fuel" gauge, and a thousand dollar exhaust apparently ....... few other goodies. I've only been on it a handful of times but it's pretty unstoppable. Nice machine indeed.
I'll be using this forum mainly for tech stuff when I need to fix something :)
Some small pics uploaded to my mustang website >>>> Hope Image code works - LOL

More help for a newbie please !
I am looking for a quad/blade to clear the snow this winter. I will also trail ride some.
I was looking at a new 450 HO, but a friend of my son has just decided to sell a 2004, or it may be an 09, I need to confirm which, 400 with winch and blade for $3500 (Canadian).
It looks in good shape overall, but needs a battery and winch switch. The odd thing I noticed was it has no Low Range gearing. I know it has been used to push snow in the past, but I wonder if the lack of low range will be a disadvantage.
Historically I have had awful luck with used vehicles. Thoughts about this one would be very helpful.
Thanks
TJ

Polaris 570 vs Honda 500
Before saying this was not a fair fight, know that they had to use the 570 SP to try and get within $1,100 of the price for the Honda. The 450 would have given the Honda a better chance, but that would be a $3,500 difference in price. Think about that for a minute...

Outlander XMR 650 rear diff leaking
I went out riding in wet lands a few days ago and for the most part submerged my XMR. After cleaning and parking in my garage I noticed a puddle of fluid under the rear diff. Looks like it?s coming from the passenger side axle area. I know I?m going to most likely have to remove the axle now but was wondering if the leak could be due to sitting in water and maybe somehow thinning the oil out causing it to leak through the seals? Should I try draining and refilling the fluid first or just yank it out and inspect the axle seals?
