New Can Am owner

Hey all,

Long time Honda rider here. I've been riding hondas for the last 15 years, and the last 10 years I've been on an '07 Fourtrax 400FGA (Rancher). Decided I was tired of chiropractor visits after a 2 hour trail run and I needed a lot more power so it was time to upgrade. So the Honda is off to the lake for cottage duty and will make a great learner quad down the road.

I looked at what Honda had to offer but the latest 500 Rubicon just isn't enough of a power upgrade for me, and the 680 is a dinosaur. So I bought a low mile '13 Outlander 1000XT and I haven't looked back. This thing is amazing. I'd be happy with just fuel injection, power steering and IRS, 3 things my fourtrax didn't have, but the power and comfort is a huge added bonus. Even with a spring spacer lift and 28" silverbacks it still glides over ruts compared to my fourtrax, and the power is just insane. This one is an XT but with mods it's fairly similar to an XMR with the exception of the diffs. I like the XMR with all the factory upgrades but I absolutely hate the look of the Max chassis (not to offend any Max owners :grin) and I wanted the 1000 engine, so I decided to go the XT route and upgrade from there.

So far I've done a wild Boar rad relocate, rubberdown spacer lift, snorkel kit and a brand new superwinch. Just before purchase the previous owner did 28" silverbacks, a dalton clutch kit and I installed a new Dayco XTX belt when I got it even though the stock belt was probably fine.

Only complaints I have is the noisy ass clunky/whiny sounding CVT which should hopefully be fixed with a full primary/secondary clutch upgrade.

I'm also open to mod suggestions. What should I be doing/not be doing to this thing? Planning on eventually doing a QSC RevX primary and STM secondary when my funds replenish, I also wanna get a can am linq trunk box, and a few more odds and ends here and there. :wink

Miscellaneous accessory plug

I have a 2017 Polaris 570 Touring and there is a plug in the rear left fender. I was wondering what it's too. I heard there a lot of plug and play things you can get for them as in the winch to switch already wired. Anyone know what that the plugs for. And if there is anymore accessory plugs that I should know of.

New guy with 2005 Sportsman 500 ho EFI

I have a 2005 sportsman 500 ho efi. Have a hard time finding parts on line, this model is not even on most drop down selections for make model year. I understand this machine came out in 2005.5. Should I be searching for 2006 efi parts?

Slight stumble off idle

Any one else with a 850 have a slight stumble off idle if u give it half or full throttle right away mine has done it since new I'm guessing a lean spot and hopefully a reflash or programmer could fix it. When I get time il pull the plastic off and check the air box and throttle bodies just to make sure everything is secure. I did check plugs while back didn't really see any brown color

renegade 570

I have been the owner of a new 2017 renegade 570 for 6 weeks now. It has 14 hours and 78 miles on it. i took it back to the dealership last thursday for a squealing sound in the cvt. I have followed the break in instructions to the t. The mechanic says that the one way bearing has wear and damage . The belt is glazed. The secondary clutch has some kind of damage and the inside of the cover is melted . I hasn't been lugged around and hasn't been ripped wide open. I have used high and low range. I have used 2 and 4 wheel drive and reverse. I made the mistake of riding in shorts and my high top red wing boots on the second ride. My right calf got so hot i had a red spot on it. Not a great start

Kings Hill & Yogo Peak, Montana

Hey guys! My buddy JT and I rode 65 miles in the Little Belt Mountains in Central Montana on Sunday. Yogo Peak is a little more than 8900' altitude. It was an awesome ride using our Forest Service map to follow trails up to the Peak and around the mountain range. Some flat dirt roads, some challenging sections with rocks driving in Low w/ 4x4. As always, I'm itching for the next ride.

Enjoy. If anyone ever comes to Montana, I'm always open to being a guide.

i am not new to atv , but am new to can am. i am 59 years old liv in ky and have a 2017 570 renegade

Looking for arguments for street use.

A few years back the state of Illinois passed a law for municipalitys the ability to allow atv/utv/golf carts on the street (speed limits 35 and under). I am looking for positive arguments to throw at the boards of Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates, IL to try to get them to implement this law. It will be an uphill battle, the village manager of HE told me I don't have the support of the police chief or himself. I still have to formally request that the board look into it. Any help would be appreciated. TIA, Bob.
