initial 570 vs kingquad 500

i just picked up another 570 a few days ago, but this one is non power steering and i dont regret it. i figured since they are in the same class, it would be perfect to compare it to my kingquad 500 non ps. i have owned more quads and bikes than i can remember and have ridden plenty of others. the quads in this class in my opinion produce enough performance for any situation i'll encounter and sip gas on top of it. anyway, heres my 1st impressions comparing the two:

ergonomics: the polaris sits a tad higher, but has much higher handlebars. the seat is much plusher on the polaris. the seat on the suzuki is more like a sport quads, which isnt bad. if i had to pick, its close, but id go with the sportsman

shifter: the kingquad wins here. its much smoother and goes in the right range the 1st time thanks to the gated pattern. the polaris does have park though and has gotten smoother over the years.

display: both are very nice. the suzuki dash is all digital, the polaris is all digital save the speedo. the polaris dash has more features so it wins

handling: i cant give a definitive answer, but the suzuki steers a bit easier at slow speed, but the polaris isnt hard to steer. the kingquad does push at speed when you turn the bars and i dont think the polaris exhibits that trait.

suspension: so far the kingquad isnt as plush. polaris did with 4x4 suspension that honda did with sport quad handling with the 250r and thats design it right the 1st time and it seems everybody is still playing catchup. the kingquad rides great though, just a little stiffer

power: i have not ran the sportsman too hard yet, but have the kingquad. according to its speedometer i topped out at 64mph. i will have to test both in a 100 yard dash and top speed with gps. the suzuki runs more like a carbureted engine, more "organic" feeling. the sportsman runs great too, but seems a bit more linear, like a fuel injected engine usually runs. if i had to guess, the sportsman would win a race and seems to have more low end, but it wouldnt be a slaughter

braking: both have good brakes, but the polaris has more feel at the lever, probably because of the braided lines the polaris has. pus the rear brake on the suzuki is a wet brake and they are known to lack feel, but but are maintenance free. in sticky situations though, id still rather seperate brakes like the kingquad

conclusion (for now): both are great quads. i just got rid of a 850 sportsman. the 570 doesnt feel any less powerful down low, turns a lot sharper, has a better top headlight adjuster, more storage, the belt will be easier to change and more. i like the 570 better than the 850. better than the kingquad though? i will have to ride both more extensively

Bighorn Mountains

Hello All, was just wondering if anyone has done any riding in the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming? If so, is there any must see area or trails not to miss? Also where did you end up staying and was it decent? We're planning a trip out there in September and trying to get some info. Thanks in advance!!!:smile

Ace 150

Hello!
First time ever purchasing an ATV, and not even for myself. Purchased an ACE 150 for my son's birthday, lucky boy! He's had it a week and it has the check engine light on and is in limp mode. A bit disappointed to be honest, he's had some issues getting into gear all week, when he first shifts if he doesn't give it just a small amount of gas it will make this horrendous clicking noise, mainly in reverse. But now just a the check engine light. I had to purchase it out of town as no one had one, the local dealer already gave me a red ass on the phone about not purchasing it from them (the markup is $200, I should just give it to them and pretend I did purchase it from them).

Oh well, if anyone has any ideas or things to check, please let me know.....

Do these things float…

Probably a dumb question, but I have a 2016 Outlander Max 1000R. I remember years ago watching a friend of mine drive right off into the lake and proceed to cross. Don't remember the brand, model or size of the machine but it sure was impressive. Will mine do the same or go to the bottom?

On the Trail with Discount Tire | Arizona Summer Wheeling

We are just hitting our summer monsoon season here in Phoenix, AZ and had an itch to get back to our desert trails that needed to be scratched!

One of my friends at the office had plans to run a short trail named Terminator in his Jeep with one of his buddy’s. I asked if I could tag along in my side by side as it's one of my favorite trails that's close to home. Of course he didn't mind, so we made plans to meet Saturday morning at 7:00 AM so we could be done before the rain and heat came in. At least it was only supposed to be 104° instead of the 110°+ temperatures we've been seeing for the last couple of months.

We met at the staging area at 6:45 AM, unloaded and got ready to head out just as a BLM Ranger pulled up. He wanted to warn us about the creek crossing since we've had some devastating flash floods in our state that have taken some lives recently. We thanked him and told him we would only be out for a few hours and would keep our eyes on the sky to the north.

He was right about the creek looking like chocolate milk because of the rain the last couple of days.

The start of Terminator is only a couple of miles from the staging area. It is in a wash area that the BLM has designated as a rock crawling trail. Fortunately there are many such trails in this area. I always love the colors of the rocks on this trail, when it is cloudy the rocks take on a bright blue color which is awesome!

The Jeeps put on a good show at the entrance of the trail on one of the rock obstacles.

Robert was testing out the scratch guard ring on his Level 8 Bully Pro wheels and the sidewalls on his Milestar Paragonia M/T tires. He always pushes the limit on his tires and wheels and does a great job of picking the right line.

The budget friendly Patagonia M/T utilizes 3-ply reinforced sidewall construction and is produced in 17 sizes for 15-inch through 20-inch wheel applications. Additional features include high void tread design, stone ejectors, biting edges, and complex siping patterns.

The Level 8 Bully Pro wheel is available for leveled and lifted vehicle applications in 15-inch through 17-inch sizes. Each wheel comes standard with Level 8 Pro Protector Rings (scratch guards) and premium zinc plated mounting hardware. When you purchase a set of 4 wheels you will receive zinc plated knurled lug nuts, red hub centric rings, and a Level 8 deflator gauge at NO additional charge! Additional features include dual valve holes to aid in inflation after a hard day off-road and modified bead retention seats designed to help keep the tire on the wheel when used off-road.

I wasn’t going to sit back and let them have all the fun so I lined up for a tough climb in my Wildcat X that is shod with prototype Gladiator X-Comp ATR tires. The tires grabbed the rock face hard, but as I neared the top of the rock wall it pushed me sideways towards the driver’s side and almost put me on my lid. That was not a comfortable feeling at all! After backing down I readjusted and went up the other side.

Robert in his JKU went up the wall easily, although the 2 door JK struggled a bit. There are times when wheelbase and weight have their advantage.

We were having a blast playing follow the leader through the rocks. It was fun to see how each vehicle performed although the built up Jeeps had an advantage over me but I was having a blast just the same.

Estes Park and Rocky Mtn NP trails and rentals

Planning a trip to Rocky Mtn NP and Estes Park area late August. Can anyone offer or recommend trips and rental facilities for four people? I'm and experience rider (Sportsman 850) and hoping to rent a two seat SXS or quad seat.

2017 XP 1000 spark arrestor

Has anyone seen this after they pulled out their spark arrestor.
Looks like the muffler packing is plugging up my arrestor.
Less than 300 miles on the bike.
