The ninth round of the 2017 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, took place today, July 9, with the 28th Annual Wiseco John Penton GNCC at the popular Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield, Ohio.
First of all, hello all! This is my first post, but I'm a long time enthusiast of all things off-road. Looking forward to sharing in the wealth of Polaris knowledge that I've been finding on these forums!
Looking to install a rear seat/cargo box on a 2017 Sportsman 850.
Nobody seems to make fender protectors yet for the new chassis, but the biggest issue is that the rack on the new design sits a couple inches higher than the seat, so when the "universal" rear seat goes on, the seat cushion slants down at a pretty steep angle, sliding the passenger off the seat and into the driver.
I understand that this ATV is not a "legal 2-up" and was not designed with aftermarket illegal rear seat options in mind, but I'm wondering if anybody has had any luck yet installing a rear seat/cargo box on a 2017 850 or XP 1000, and if so, which brand and style did you use?
Thanks in advance!
*EDIT: didn't mean to post this in the XP 1000 section, but can't figure out how to delete or move it. Sorry.
I need some assistance with figuring out some problems with a 2004 Sportsman 700. It has 3100miles/430hrs on it and has run been running perfect until a few weeks ago. Up until that point it always cranked right over and started up to a smooth idle. I moved it out of the garage to get to some other stuff, parked it in the driveway and it wouldn't start up about three hours later. After a lot of playing around I diagnosed it as having no spark. Testing resistance through the various stator circuits gave me results leading me to believe the stator was fine. This machine has the Ducati ignition system which I assumed had failed.
I couldn't find a used replacement Ducati CDI locally to hang test and wound up buying the RM Stator replacement system. After installing that the machine will fire but only on the first attempt and will only keep running and maintain idle if I keep the throttle open. Once it dies (which it will in about five seconds if I don't help) it won't restart for at least 10-15 minutes. During that time if I pull a plug and ground it to the frame it has no spark while cranking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Good Afternoon,
I recently bought a 1999 Traxtor (Yellow version) that had a "starting problem" that turned out to be something to do with a "Clutch Bearing"? As such, the guy doing the work had to pull the engine apart and now inform me that I need to buy "Anti-Freeze" for the radiator?
Because the 4 wheeler went straight to this guy at the time of purchase, I did not have a chance to take a "detailed look at it, mechanically" and no one mentioned that it had a radiator when I did buy it.
So, my first question is does this thing really have a radiator?
If so, where in heck is it?
What type of Anti-Freeze is recommended for it (I live in New York State)?
Thanks for any advice.
Morning,
Recently I bought my first 4 wheeler (ATV) an old 1999 Bombardier Traxtor that I intend to use (primarily) for plowing and some local trail rides, nothing too serious.
As I have never owned a 4 wheeler before I am fairly certain that I will be needing a lot of advice from time to time and am hopeful that the members here will be able to point me in the right direction when needed.
Looking forward to learning a lot and being involved.

Anyone going to the Llewelyn Good Intent Hose Co. ATV run in Schuylkill Co. PA? I went last year and it was a good time. The entry price keeps going up ($40 this year now) which is a bit of a turn off. I know the event benefits the volunteer fire company and at the end they have participants pull a poker hand for a chance at a quad. Overall a great time.

Sunk the Highlifter Sunday. Was riding along a lake where I'd been before and hjt a soft sspot and it rolled into 15 feet of water. Winched it out and towed it home. Drained everything, put in all new fluids, it all looks good so far but what is that airbox sealed with? Looks kinda like black RTV
How much play is acceptable on front bearings? I know the hub will move a little bit, but how much is too much?
Poll: Who Makes the Best Aftermarket Exhaust For The Yamaha Banshee? There probably isn’t a more unique sound in all of the ATV world than that of the Yamaha Banshee. During it’s heyday there were numerous aftermarket companies offering exhausts for the machine and each one gave the twin cylinder two stroke it’s own unique sound. Which exhaust manufacturer (past or present) do you think offered the […]
