Greetings Can-Am Enthusiasts!

My name is Jack Tran and I'm a user experience grad student conducting research on the behalf of Bombardier. I really need your help answering some quick questions about the overall Can-Am riding experience! I'm specifically interested in talking to users who own the Spyder RT model, but I appreciate all responses just the same. :smile

Here are 4 general questions I would like to ask:

First off, thanks so much for your time! I'm conducting a research study for Bombardier and I just have a couple of questions. If you can be descriptive, that would be awesome!

1.) What do you personally like about the Can-Am riding experience?

2.) What is riding at night like? Do you like night touring? Positive experiences? Negative experiences?

3.) What are your thoughts on Augmented reality being implemented on your Can-Am? (Real-time maps, points of interests, GPS, road-side assistance, video-record your trails/touring experience, showing weather conditions, etc)

4.) Do you ride solo or in groups?

So once the rebates hit I am going to be purchasing a 2019 outlander. My question is should I buy a 850 xtp or a 1000r xt that is all that is in the budget. Before everyone jumps the gun saying bigger is better I agree but other things also factor in other than engine size like budget and ride quality. I would love to hear how the 2019 XT rides and drives compared to an older XT. I bought a 2013 800 XT new and the handling was horrible. Wayyy to soft causing terrible body roll. Upgraded them to RC2 shocks before they were ever released (Thanks Fox!) And I now own a 2011 outlander 800 XXC with the kyb piggybacks. I have heard the XT suspension has been redesigned and now has a front sway bar like my XXC. I ride fast (used to race XC before an injury) about 50 % of the time and use it for hunting/ice fishing the other 50%. No mud to speak of so don't even say an xmr as I hate them. I know I will be happy with an 850 xtp but I would love to get a 1000 if they improved the suspension on the XT. What would you all buy if you were in my shoes. Please only respond if YOU have actually tested a 2019.

The ATV has been spitting & sputtering, and every time I stopped it would backfire. It got to where it would only run steadily on choke. We thought there might be buildup in the gas tank, but we cleaned it out and although it ran well for a week or so, it started doing the same thing again. The noise sounded a lot like it was missing to me, so I pulled the plug wire off the spark plug and it had oil all over it, and there was some oil around the plug. I'm not sure where to go from here.

should I invest in some motorcycle boots and body armor?

I tend to slip off my foot pegs , can the motorcycle boots improve traction?

Let me preface this by saying I do what I do or don't do, solely for my bike, lol, and don't advocate anyone else following suit, and many/most of these pics were taken during progress, and not to be confused with the final product. As my sig indicates, I've previously owned several different atv's over the years (mind you, those were just the note-worthy ones), and wanted to get my little boy one a few months back as he's now old enough to ride and work on them with me. A fourtrax 300 was found and took up residence in the garage, which led me to consider "if he's riding out of earshot, how am I supposed to teach him how to operate it?" I needed to ride alongside, so the decision was made to source myself a bike again, after having been without for awhile.

-quick backstory fill: life has dealt some seriously shitty hands lately, so it's not like I've just got a truckload of money to plunk down on something......but since everyone loves a good picture-loaded build thread to scroll through, here goes:

Killing time scrolling across marketplace I spot an ad for an outlander 400, reasonably close to me, and at a price I could "afford", because it's not running, primarily, it would seem.



Bonus it's a max chassis, which I prefer :th_smiliewoo:



Apparently it was just taking up space in the barn, and the guy was ready to get rid of it. We settled on $400 ($400!) for a complete max chassis bike! I was stoked. He said it needed a CDI due to no spark. Other than that it looked fine, just neglected/filthy/covered in barn dust. Pushed it up in the back of my truck and headed home.



First thing I noticed was at the fuel lines leaving the tank, the lines/grommets/90s had just crumbled away to nothing, which I addressed with OEM stuff.



Put a little fresh gas in just to see if it held, and moved on to the spark issue. Just randomly removing panels and got to the ignition switch to find this:



The damn rats had chewed slap through most of the ignition/CDI wiring, but it was a relatively simple fix.

So we've got some fresh gas in it, got good spark now. Oil's clean and full, so what the hell, let's see if it'll fire

Wondering if anyone knows of any ATV riding groups in Florida

I have a 97 Polaris Trailboss 250. I had to replace the starter and bindix. Can anyone tell me if there is a gasket that goes between the starter and engine, and if there is one needed by on the recoil where it meets the engine? I have looked everywhere and can’t seem to find anything that has a part number so thought I would ask before I put it back together. Thank you.

Rear left wheel not engage in AWD only 3 tires spin.
