I have been doing some work on clutches and had installed a cvtech on a buddys 850. I have the clutch removal tool and it was a huge pain getting it off with the correct tool. Once we got it off I was trying to figure out how to hold the new clutch without the new cvtech tool. What I did was removed the plastic 14mm allen bolt from the stator cover and used the allen socket to hold the crank... it is also 14mm. I torqued the new clutch down without issue. Now I have two more clutches to do and and asking is it OK to use this method when taking a primary clutch off? Any issues or possible problems, it seems to be a very easy way of doing these jobs. Any ideas? the picture is a generic photo of a cover so people know what bolt I am talking about on the stator cover, it is plastic.
