Used 2012 newb question on CVT

Just bought a 2012 sportsman 500. First ATV ever. I might have messed up...I only tested it very slow around yard. So...when I got home and opened it up I noticed something in hi or low. It feels like a 2 speed tranny...which a CVT shouldn't right? It takes off...and after what appears to be a certain speed...it jerks like it catches a second gear, rpms drop, and it will go faster. Does it in low or high. Literally feels like what I would expect a 2 speed automatic to feel like. First off....not normal correct? Second...where do I even start? I'd prefer not to bring it to anyone unless I must...I want to gets my hands dirty if I can so I can start learning this stuff. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Oh..2500 miles. He had receipts for new belt and all new fluids he changed just a few months ago. If it matters..aftermarket rims with 26 inch maxxis bighorn.

Question – WInch mounting ’18 570 Utility Ed

My son has an '18 Sportsman 570 Utility Edition. I'm buying him an aftermarket Winch for Christmas. Do I need a winch mounting plate? I watched a video on mounting a winch in the'18 570 SP and it appears that version already has 4 holes in the frame for mounting a winch. I'm wondering if his version is the same.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the add! My son and his wife both have '18 Sportsman 570s ( I own an '18 Rzr Trail EPS). I'm their primary mechanic/aftermarket installer so joining these forums will be a big help. I appreciate the help I get in the Rzr forums and I'd appreciate any help the experienced Sportsman owners could give me as well!

2019 850 highlifter

I’m new here but have had fourwheelers in the past including Polaris scrambler sportsman and a predator but just bought a 19 sportsman 850 highlifter and I love it but it seems hard to get to the air box, does anyone have a trick that I don’t know to get to it or drain it if water gets in ?? Thanks

Cleaning

I couldn’t find any topics about washing so I’m trying to figure out what everyone is using to wash their bikes, I’ve heard certain cleaners like purple power fade plastics, got a 2019 highlifter 850 and want to try and keep it clean

2002 sportsman front calipees

Hello everyone!! I just picked up a 2002 Polaris sportsman 500. It needs front calipers, I can’t seem to find any for the 02 and if I do they are expensive!! I can find other years quite easily!! Can I use a different year caliper or does it have to be from 2002? Thank u for the help

Move without driveshaft

Hi Guys new to Can Am’s looking to pick up a 07 Can Am Outlander 400, the previous owner had the rear drive shaft snap and didn’t fix it. Then he let it sit a few months it has some problems to fix including the shaft. Getting it pretty cheap. I am wondering if I would be able to drive the quad up ramps into my pick up truck without the rear shaft using 4x4 using the front wheels. His battery is shot so i can’t test it until I get there and it’s a couple hours away. He thinks it didn’t work like that before he parked it months ago. Any thoughts on that?
