I have a charging issue, I believe it's also causing my lighting issue where all lights shut off when raising engine RPM off idle (overcharging?). I'm a bit confused, according to info on the forums the rectifier/regulator is the box at the front by the radiator support, but when looking at parts images it looks like the box attached to the upright below the ECU. Can someone clarify for me?

I have a 2001 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4 that's been giving me some trouble recently. It seemed to start suddenly and out of the blue. When you put the 4-wheeler in high (or low) gear it doesn't go faster than 15 mph and rev's out. Once you get to around that speed it starts rev higher but doesn't go any faster. It also acts funny when trying to go up hills, etc. Like it doesn't want to go. I've changed the belt and also changed the primary clutch ... no luck. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what I should try next / look at. Thank you for any help!

Anyone know of any deals coming up? Say for wheels, exhaust, tuner or ecu tuning? Maybe even winches and stuff?

I am getting a 1994 4x4 400 2 stroke. I think its a trail boss according to local dealer with vin check? Has metal racks. Anyhow, anyone know where to buy a good cylinder and all that if I end up needing? It has 0 compression and he said it had a "big bore " kit installed awhile back. So who knows what is fixable or what?

First off, there are so many things to mod on these Can Am's that my head is spinning. I have been researching constantly, tires, snorkel, rad relocate, frame mods, shocks, clutching and temp controllers AGGRHH! I have found so much good information on this site. I appreciate everyone posting their results, it really helps.

My newest project is exhaust and tuners. I have been researching the past few nights, and the information on the GSE trail tamer seems to be limited. Can anyone tell me about the sound and overall look/feel of this exhaust. Also, I have been looking into the SPI, there is a bit more info on the SPI, but if anyone can tell me a little bit about their experiences with that setup it would be much appreciated. Fuel tuners as well, what is the best route to go their?

I have a 1000r xmr outlander and lats week I had the winch hooked to another truck pulling myself out of mud. all the sudden it sounded like the exhaust had came loose and started running like crap . to get back to trailer I had to shut the motor off in order to place in gear due to vibration . its under warranty still but just haven't taken it to shpop yet .. can anyone give me some type of idea what might be wrong or what I am gonna be faceing in order to get repaired????

It seems manufacturers are going toward less maintaince. I know Can-Am are saying no service due for 1st year at all. I was just on Polaris site and saw their new recommendations. At break in the only oil they say to change is engine oil. Trans fluid is at 1 year. Gear case oil only check at 36 months. I think it’s crazy to not change all oils at break in. Why do you think it’s heading in this direction? Do you think customers complain about to much maintaince?

It idles quietly, revving it up is loud. In a way, I think it is as loud as our 3600 rpm generator.
Car engines seem to manage the noise lower, not sure about motorcycles. I know some people like it louder.

Does anyone know if a company makes these for the sportsman 1000?

Got the first ride in on my 19' Renegade 1000R. The bike is a blast. The suspension really soaked up a lot of the roots and bumps. The power is amazing. I do wish it had power steering for the kickback I sometimes I get in the bars but I just got spoiled to that when I had my polaris. I love this thing!
